TSB 24-2028 - Random Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) Warning With No Vehicle Or Objects Near Vehicle

Effective: March 8, 2024

This bulletin supersedes 23-2266. Reason for update: add 2024 vehicles.

Model:
Ford - 2022-2024 Expedition
Lincoln - 2022-2024 Navigator

Issue: Some 2022-2024 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit a random BLIS warning with no vehicle or objects near vehicle. This condition may be intermittent, more noticeable in wet conditions. Diagnostic trouble codes B13F3:97 in the side obstacle detection control module - left (SODL) and/or B13F4:97 in the side obstacle detection control module - right (SODR) and/or U0233 and U0232 in the image processing module A (IPMA) may also be present. This may be due to a mud/snow/ice build-up between the radar sensor and the rear bumper cover or damage or corrosion to the radar sensor, connector or harness. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to repair damage and install shields.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:

• 2022-2024 Expedition/Navigator
• Intermittent BLIS warning with no vehicle or object present

Ford has released TSB 24-2169, which provides an alternate Service Procedure to this TSB 34-2028, toward addressing random Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) warnings with no vehicle or objects near the vehicle, possibly caused by the radar signal echoing through the trailer hitch bar.

Because of TSB 24-2169's reduced part cost and reduced time & effort to perform its Service Procedure, you may want to review and consider TSB 24-2169 before attempting TSB 34-2028.
