Condensation from the exhaust is normal, on a cold startup.
A raw gas smell indicates an exhaust leak (most likely at the manifold), or loose spark plugs. I have the same problem in my 2010, passenger manifold leaks.

It went away as the day progressed, but what concerns me is that I smelled it for like 20-30 minutes this morning, at 4am.

I researched it and it’s normal for a cold start but should only last a few minutes.

I have a 2004 Expedition that I was always smelling gas, esp after filling up. Then I had it leak when topped off the tank. Had the tank pulled thinking we were having a fuel pump issue. Turns out the rings around the 2 fittings on the top of the tank were cracked. Neither the rings or the tank could be replaced so put JB Weld to work. So far, so good. Even turned off the service engine light that has been on for years.
