Special Service Message 53856 - 2025 Expedition - XL Trim Package - Tailgate/Liftgate Will Not Power Open Or Close With The Key Fob
2025 Expedition XL vehicles will not open or close the power liftgate/tailgate by pressing the button on the key fob. Expedition XL vehicles are designated as Special Service Vehicles (SSV) and the rear liftgate/tailgate power open/close feature is omitted from being operated via the key fob. Pressing the key fob liftgate/tailgate button only locks/unlocks the rear cargo area. The power lift feature will power open/close if the button is pressed on the gate within 45 seconds of pressing the key fob. No repair attempts should be made. The Owner's Manual and Workshop Manual are being updated to include normal operation.
