Can I change the page background to white?

At the bottom left of the forum page, there is a tiny icon (a paintbrush?) that if you click on it, you change the forum background to white (“light style”).
If you log-in, you can click on this icon and set it as a default for when you login.
I hate the black background and wonder why the forum developer hid the tiny icon on the bottom of the page?
