RCI Offroad is having a July 4th sale on the engine and transmission skid plates.


Both links identify a 2007-2017 Expedition/Navigator fitment. For anybody who has them, are you happy with them? How was the install? How are they holding up? I still have my OEM thin engine splash plate, but the dealer lost the middle fabric cover when I had a service done a few years back. I do get off pavement multiple times each year, but am not a hard core offroader. This picture is of Ophir Pass in Colorado from June 2026.

I have a similar thread I posted a couple days ago. I have a 2013 and it is missing the OEM splash plate. I was driving through some huge puddles the other day and very concerned having a new ABS module exposed. If you look down from above, the missing plate is quite a gap. Looking from the front you can easily see a road hazard, even an empty water bottle, getting jammed into the serpentine belt at the crank pulley. So yeah, I think those parts should be covered. My only concern is air flow with the RCI. I have a lot of stop and go traffic here in Florida and so, wonder what effect OEM VS RCI engine plate would result.

This note on the RCI skid plate: *Requires removal of the plastic air dam under bumper. Skid plate provides clean transition from the bumper and retains maximum aerodynamics

I am not sure how the plastic air dam affects the aerodynamics or road noise.

I had the full set, engine & tranny installed on my 09 by my mechanic a couple months back. He said the fitment was perfect, and went on without trouble. I haven't had the truck to try them out yet, so I can't answer with that info yet.

I replaced the fabric cover with RCI ABOUT 5 years ago (2017 Platinum). Easy install, Fits & works great. I have had a couple mechanics complain about access to the oil plug & filter. I’ve watched others a couple times and don’t see any issue.

I have RCI engine, diff and transmission plates on my 2019 Expy. LOVE THEM! Depending on the mechanic, oil changes can be more or less difficult - usually not an issue. Also, for the Gen 4, the fitment was for the F150 - there was no specific model for Expy/Navigator when I bought mine in 2021 so a little adjusting was required by the shop that did the install (RSG Offroad on W Colfax in Lakewood). It does require removal of the front plastic air dam (which I personally think looked stupid anyway). I had Bilsteins put on a couple years later at RSG and had the installers level the suspension - raised the front up an inch or two - looks MUCH better. Other than the Bilsteins, the skid plates and the Wildpeak AT2 tires, it's a stock 2019 Expedition Limited

Oh, and they now have (hopefully for your year) additional plates that protect your catalytic converter(s) from theft but need to be installed at the same time as the other plates. As I recall, they're not that expensive so maybe worth the investment.
