How does one remove the dash cubby? And for you folks with the fancy models what is this button??

Yes, all the F-150 cubbies and TBC bolt in from the back, Expedition snaps in from the front.

How does one remove the dash cubby? And for you folks with the fancy models what is this button??

I’ve never taken the dash apart in the Expedition, but looking at the way it sits with that lip, as well as looking at pics of the OEM TBC, it pops out. It’s tough, I tried removing the one from my wife’s truck and gave up because it felt like something was going to break.

    2017 Raptor Wheels

Nope. I’ve been running my 3/2 with LT285/75R18 (35x11.50) tires on stock wheels for 25K miles over the past year and it’s still rock solid. I don’t drive it easy either.

‘17 Raptor Wheels and Tires on ‘15 Expedition??

http://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/2017-raptor-wheels.33222/#post-282565 He put them on his 2011, which is functionally the same as a 15. I don’t see them fitting without a lift, as I have 285/75R18 (35x11.50-18), and they’d definitely rub at stock height.

    upgrade lights

You will either need to use resistors or FORScan to eliminate the hyper flash, the FORScan thread is a sticky at the top. Our trucks don’t have conventional flashers, the flash function is done through programming.

    Differences: front and rear coilovers

As I’ve always understood it, ours would be considered a coilover (which is what @sixsix correctly referred to as “coil over the strut”). It’s a conventional double A-arm setup with a separate spring/shock. My 79 Mustang was a strut car where there’s a lower control arm and the strut to support...

    upgrade lights

I’m going to stay away from the headlights, as way too many people have way too many differing opinions on LEDs in them. I have retrofitted HID projectors, and that’s the end of it for me. On the taillights, you can upgrade just the bulbs, or you can get full replacement LED lights off various...

    EcoBoost Throttle Body Replaced

I’d say you have gotten lucky as it really seems hit or miss. My wife has a 15 Expedition as well, but her’s has over 80K and still on the stock throttle body. I expect it to happen sooner or later though. Having researched further, it seems the gears aren’t the issue, it’s the actual little...

    EcoBoost Throttle Body Replaced

There’s a flaw in the plastic gears inside the throttle body motor that causes the issue, so recalibrating it won’t fix it. At least that was my understanding of the issue. I have no idea to be honest. I have an extended warranty, so it could have been either. Didn’t cost me anything, so I was...

    EcoBoost Throttle Body Replaced

Both mine and my wife’s are 15s.

No more chrome on the 15

It’s not matte black Plastidip, so I’m a fan. I’m also not a chrome fan, so it makes sense to me. Especially the fog light trim being blacked out. Now you just need to ditch those headlights to match the rest of the truck. A set of blacked-out projectors with some pearl white accents would fit...

    18mpg avg since new....!

Averaging 42 mph, that’s pretty good for a 4x4 rolling around in 4A. Call me impressed.

    EcoBoost Throttle Body Replaced

Interesting it happened so early in your EB’s life. I’m just shy of 60K, which has been 25K since I bought it last year. Only work that’s been done on it. My wife’s is over 80K and still on the original TB. So definitely hit or miss on whether it happens. Ford definitely knows it’s an issue, but...

    EcoBoost Throttle Body Replaced

Driving to work at 4 am this morning, my truck randomly threw the “wrench” icon, lost all power, dropped to idle, and refused to move until I shut it off and back on again. Happened three times in my 12-mile drive to work. Did some stuff at work, drove home, and it happened twice more. Code...

    Tunes, tunes, and more tunes

In 4HI, probably not. And I wouldn’t see a reason to try. In 4AUTO, if I powerbrake it and then stomp it, the back tires will give a couple of rotations as the computer transfer power forward, but then it just grips and goes. During shifts, the torque management takes all the fun out of it. It...

    Finally! LED headlights!

It’s not quite plug and play. The projectors and reflectors actually use different bulbs in the high/low spots. I believe the projectors are H9 high/9005 low; the reflectors are 9005 high/H11 low. The connectors are different, so it’s not as easy as plugging in the different lights either...

    Tunes, tunes, and more tunes

@J Ski pretty much nailed it. I call them when I want to make changes. I suppose you could call, give them my name, and ask for the same tune. I wouldn’t recommend it though. My tune is VERY aggressive. I used the “Race” tune from my old F-150 as the basis for the trans tuning in this one. And...

2017 doesn't downshift quickly enough, "lugs" when going up a hill

My wife runs 87 in her 15 Platinum most of the time. When I drive it, I put 93 in it out of habit. Her average MPG on 87 is 16.8. My average MPG in her truck with 93 is 16.9. Neither of us drive her truck much on the highway, so that’s mostly city traffic driving. I do find her truck more...

    Tunes, tunes, and more tunes

It’s been a minute, but as I recall, it’s 14 PSI untuned. I can’t find my datalogs, but I believe I was peaking at 18.22 PSI with my tune. I need to run it again to see how the shift pressures and speed looks. The unmodified tune barely affects the shifts in the Expedition. 5* said that owners...

HELP! I’m being told I can’t put the 3/2 kit on my 2010 expy

I will add fuel to the fire. The only reason you don’t see bigger lifts is because the Expedition uses an independent rear suspension. I don’t know if it’s the same on the pre-15 trucks, I imagine it is, but the rear CV axles actually run through the frame. This eliminates any possibility of...

    Tunes, tunes, and more tunes

A 93 tune is fine on lower octane gas. The knock retard is still present in the engine, so even if you run it hard, it will still pull timing out to counteract the knock. When I drove into Florida during the mass hurricane evacuations last year, sometimes all I could find was 87 and I never...

    4WD Change for 2017?

Thanks for the clarification. I knew about the ControlTrac in the older Expeditions, but didn’t realize they continued it when they did away with the viscous coupling and replaced it with the computer-controlled clutch pack in the transfer case. Further research hasn’t proven that not to be the...

    Catalytic Converter question

I’m not familiar with the brand, but I’d take the risk at that over $2,200. In your shoes, I’d go to an exhaust shop, have them bend me a new Y-pipe, and then add a single universal cat on that. A pair of O2 sensor CEL eliminators will handle that portion of it, and be done the cheapest way...

    4WD Change for 2017?

All 15-17 use the AdvanceTrac with RSC, which is the brake-bias system being referenced. In my 2015, it’s proven plenty reliable at dividing power between the wheels. While I can get a one-wheel spin effect during cornering if it’s hard enough to unload the inside rear wheel, if I stay on the...
