I have started to get a squeak from the back of the my 2016 King Ranch 4x4. I can reproduce it by pushing on the outside of the lift gate when it is closed. There is some play in there. Is there a way to tighten the fit of the rear gate?
Because I think I fixed the problem. I think they were originally mounted correctly, but the screws on top did not hold tight, and the assembly canted down a little. If they aren't aimed where I want them after canting them back up and stabilizing them I will adjust. Thanks for pointing out...
My vehicle: 2016 KR 4x4 with 2" lift front and rear.
I noticed recently that my headlights were aimed lower than I remember. Even on level streets I did not think I had enough visibility ahead. I read some threads and the manual, then looked at my car to see if there was anything to adjust...
Thanks. Could not find anything myself. Good job. I guess if I removed the airbag I could more easily stuff some spacers in there because the other dash trim would not be in the way. Kinda crummy to have that squeak. It's constant even on smooth roads.
Sorry, the year is in the thread title, but not the post. The vehicle is a 2016 King Ranch 4x4.
The question is whether the plastic dash cover that says AIRBAG on it is part of the airbag assembly. Is it removable as a trim piece? Anyone know the answer for certain? I need to get a shim in...
I have an annoying squeak on the passenger side of my dash that can be reproduced by pushing on the panel that says AIRBAG on it. I removed a couple of the screws under that panel to try to remove it, but it seems like it is an integral part of what's underneath it, not a removable cover. I...
I always tow in manual mode. Easier on the transmission, and you can put it in 6th and it won't downshift unless you really lose a lot of speed. If it won't hold the speed, shift to 5, then shift back to 6 when conditions improve.
I recently took a trip with a friend in his Suburban with...
Re: shocks, I recommend Bilstien. They should make them for your model year. They were stock on my last Expedition, a 2003 FX4. Glad your prayers were answered. Thanks for posting your experience.
Just finished mine. Agree on the reasons, listed in order of importance to me:
1. Exhaust in face while hooking trailer.
2. Getting rid of Ugly.
3. Sound (which did not change much).
Notes on my experience:
My '16 has about 45,000 miles on it, and 2.5 years of driving on the Gulf beaches once...
Welcome back. Do you have an answer for my question on page 9? I bought a 14" 45 degree elbow, 3" id to od. Thinking a 9" resonator/tip is about right to bring it to the edge of the body.
I'm about to do this to my 2016. Question for Expedition Andy: Did you do anything between these two pictures other than install the hanger? It looks like you pulled it outboard about 6" or more. Didn't that torque your existing pipes?

Push the connector in while you slide the red tab back. I think that step is required because the latch mechanism is like the latch on a sliding window--it is at an acute angle (less than 90 degrees) rather than 90 degrees.
If that is true, then why am I able to "drift" out the back end with TSC off? With the stock Hankooks, I liked to turn off the TSC and lean on the accelerator in turns on wet roads. The back end swings wide, tires spin, and no braking is applied.
What he said.
My '94 Suburban did pretty good off road, but I like the Expedition more because of the 4-wheel independent suspension and the shorter wheel base. Much tighter turning radius as well, but the front end groans at full lock.
So the Expedition is lighter, shorter wheel base (less...
To the original question of off road capability, I had a 2003 FX4. I now have a 2016 King Ranch. I have done hundreds (maybe a couple thousand) of miles in 4wd on Texas beaches and elsewhere. I have driven Jeeps, Ramchargers, Broncos, Suburbans, Blazers, International Scouts...

My dad bought a Country Squire when I was about 2. I was the last of 8 kids. My oldest sister was 12 at the time.
My dad was explaining to the salesman how he could fit the whole family in the station wagon. Three in the front row, 3 in the second row, and the 4 little ones in the jumpseats...
I read a study on oil changes in the '90's or so done on New York cabs. The study varied the brand of oil and the oil change interval. Engines were taken apart and analyzed after so many miles. The conclusion was that the brand of oil did not matter. Regular changes made all the difference...
I removed the racks on mine and replaced them with custom aluminum powder-coated racks. There are 3 sets of mounts. My new racks only use the front holes. I put the screws back in the back holes. No issues with leaking. I think I added some Loc-Tite or similar thread sealer.
The aluminum...
