Premium will make no difference. It is just more resistant to compression ignition and has no benefit in a motor with 9:1 compression. Non-ethanol might help but really the only way to make an o2 code go away is to do a new sensor

I would stay away from any 2nd gen with the 3v motors. Bad plugs and a cam phaser issue that never seems to go away. I am partial to first gens because they are more trucky if that makes sense. My first gen has been much more resilient than my folks 2004. But obviously that isn't a very big...
Unplug the 4wd fuse while in a4wd (I think it's fuse 104 under the dash, but check your Manual to be sure). If the noise goes away, you know it's in the transfer case and not the front axles.
I do agree with tom though that they look ok. No signs of grease either which you would see splattered...
I just did my brake lines cause one blew out. Turned my wheels to full Lock to get behind them. Changed everything out without even taking off the tires. Pretty easy honestly
Screw driver pries those little retainer clips back pretty easy. you think the brake lines were badly designed, wait...
I have seen some guys use black gloss paint and come out with a real sharp looking grille. I have a tendency to want to black everything out though so that's part of it haha

Yeah I think that is how mine were too. They were missing bad by the end at about 210k. I did motorcraft and accel super coils. Little bit of a rough idle but way better than the old set.

Man you have a cool looking rig, and a hell of a camera too it looks like. Have you considered painting the grille black?

No problem. I googled some pictures of spark plugs for the 5.4 and they all look like that new one. I couldn't remember off the top of my head what mine were like. What brand did you go with?

They are both right. One is just a different design from the other, most likely to help with the blowing plugs out issue. The shoulder (located at same height on both plugs) will keep the plugs from tightening down too far
Even if the shade is slightly off, you won't notice it if it's just touch up. I have an entire fender painted a different shade of blue and you can't see it from 10 feet away. And it's a huge area

I would agree. I've actually thought of doing the same thing, but water tested the foam to bad results. It's kind of like a sponge. I would maybe just leave the tape on to see how it wears. Tires kick up rocks onto those quite often and it might eat right through the foam anyways

It's cheaper. If you are willing to pony up the cash for doing a cold air intake, they do look nice. But they pull in hot engine air (name is just a selling tactic) so I just like my air drawn from the fender

Does it feel like a miss? If you have a dead cylinder it would not run at all smooth. If it feels smooth but just slow then there has to be something that is plugging it up or not reading correctly. If the inside of the exhaust mani is white, it seems that the fuel mixture is off in my opinion...
Well if you have those out of the way then you should be in the clear. I also took the fuel rail loose from the intake so I could move it a little bit out of the way. I did not pull it off though.
Hardest one for me was cylinder 7 under the fuel pressure regulator. If you changed that one...
Yeah I would stick with motorcraft plugs. I have always heard that these motors were fussy when it came to plugs. Motorcraft has worked well for me so far.

Nothing crucial. Just curious because some brands ride harder than others. Also if the previous owner put in load assisting shocks (have coil springs around the bodies) that would do it too.

It will be very unnoticeable. I have driven with nothing in the back, and I have driven with at least 300 lbs of crap in the back, and still get about 12mpg's. Are the shocks original or aftermarket? If aftermarket, can you tell the brand?

Replaced the brake hoses up front going to the caliper. My drivers side broke today (never want to feel your pedal go right to the floor...) but it wasn't too bad. 20 minutes each side and it was about 15 bucks for each part.

Don't feel too bad, the search function doesn't always work properly. I do agree with the other posts though, I have never read anyone that reported any type of gain other than a whistle sound with the TB spacer. Look into the Gott's mod. That is something you will actually somewhat feel...
TAG (Tactical Armor Group) makes heavy duty bumpers for the Expy's. I know Tonydiv and DetroitDarin have used them on both 1st and 2nd gens and will probably chime in with pictures to prove it.
Haha thanks guys. Its ok Tom, it was Monday... I also have done my own Stability Control testing in my 97 and it definitely is a primitive system :flamingdevil:
What Askmelater said though makes sense. She does not have a button for disabling the Advancetrac feature or the badge. I will read...
So I need to replace the master cylinder of my mom's 2004. I went to O'Reilly last night and I guess they sell two different types of master cylinder, one with Electronic Stability Control, and one without. I would imagine it would have ESC, but it is an XLT so it might not. Anyone know what...
