Yeah I don't know if that is an issue that throws codes. Its kind of like losing a bearing, you have to go more with what you can discern rather than what the truck is telling you. If it fails completely, you will get some kind of code then, but not really helpful at that point. After reading...
I'm sorry I had to skim... One thing I would recommend is talking to a shop that specializes in transmissions. They are out there, and usually can offer pretty good prices since that is all they do. Sorry if it was in there already and missed it. Having the dealership do anything is always...
Usually with misfires like that it is simply a short to the block. I know you like to flog your truck in the snow, so my first move would be to pull the COP and blow the well out with a compressor. Dry any water that might have snuck past the boot and causing a short to the block instead of...
How tall is your garage!?! My folks had a hard time fitting my truck in their garage back in the day, and that was before the larger tires... And it's stock height!
Sweet looking truck though, it will be very grateful that it gets to stay inside haha.
Don't worry, I lost my brake fluid cap the same type of way and for about 2 years only had a thick piece of tin foil and one very gross looking rubber band covering it up... Only after I replaced the master cylinder cause the old one was failing did I get a cap again haha. It happens.
Not sure off the top of my head, but just take a tape measure and measure from side to side. Its going to be an easy number like 2.5 or 2.75 so it does not have to be perfect. Just eyeball and you will be able to tell... I want to say the tailpipe on my folk's 04 is about 2.75in but that does...
Ordered a new Sony head unit for it. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to audio, but I am sick of the old factory unit. Doesn't work very well in cold weather and using the tape deck thing to play music off my phone is pretty old school haha.
I found a good deal for the HU online...
Yeah then it is tough to say. I would maybe call a shop and see if they have dealt with the phaser issue before, and what they think as to whether it would make the noise on a cold engine or not.
Just the way it sounds to me though, I don't think it would be exhaust. Its too constant in the...
Computer holds onto the code regardless if it has been repaired until it is reset. PCV mean positive crankcase ventilation or something near that, so leaving the oil cap off would in turn not allow for any such positive pressure to build. I think it would be safe to assume the cap caused the...
I am not 100% sure. I have read opinions on both ends of the spectrum. Some bring it in and have the shop repair it, only to have the motor begin making the same noise again a few days later. Others just let it go until something catastrophic happens. If you google "cam phasers 5.4" you will...
FORD 5.4 with cam phaser issue - YouTube
Sounds a lot like cam phasers to me...
And those will cause problems. That is an issue unique to the 3v 5.4's which you probably do have. Fortunately there is a lot of info out there in that issue, but I still don't think its a cheap fix.
Yeah Chuck has a good point. If you check the belt, there should not be cracks on the smooth side. Minimal cracking on the ribbed side is ok, but if its like one crack every 3 inches its bad. Also if you have spilled antifreeze on it recently, it will squeak forever.
Is the rushing air from the fan...?
I would agree it sounds like a bearing somewhere. Remove the belt and spin the accessories by hand to see if you can identify which one it is. You should be able to feel it grinding compared to the rest that are smooth.
For a good tune-up, spark plugs...
Well that would all depend on the vehicle and its options. My folk's 04 has the same 3.73 rear gears that my truck does and they would handle 35's fine. I would not put 35's on that truck just cause I do not think it is as durable and truck-like as the 1st gens, but I don't think the weak...
Offset and Backspacing Explained - PerformanceTrucks.net Forums
This should answer your question. I can never remember how backspacing works either, but that link will explain it.
That looks really nice! Sorry I guess I should have answered your original question. Plasti-dip seems to hold up very nicely. One thing I don't care for is it tends to fade to a very light black (if that makes sense) and the road salt sticks to it like crazy in the winter, so they are always...
I found mine at the Farm and Fleet store I work at. Look for a retailer with a large automotive section and they will probably have some. They are not the highest quality (they have curved to the shape that the wind runs over them) but I like them cause they say Ford.
If it is in 2wd, then my first suspect would be a CV joint. When those go bad, you feel kind of a catch from one side of the vehicle in front. Examine the CV boots for holes. Those almost always show a bad joint cause it gets dirt in there and no longer works effectively. Does it produce the...
Try and swap the fuse with another one rated for the same amperage. At least eliminate that as the issue before you go spending money on bulbs. Fuses can look good and still be bad.
Kind of sounds like a pinched wire like was mentioned. See if function improves when you tilt the wheel up and...
Yeah sorry I feel like I am always giving the same advice haha but it is the sad truth. I did remove all of the connectors before removing the COP's. Maybe try a long needle nose pliers. I put the extension contraption together and then put the whole thing into the truck. Getting just the...
If you have a 1st gen expy they should be able to run the drivers side pipe right next to the passenger side pipe where the muffler was originally. They can install mufflers turned 90 degrees in that area and everything should fit fine. If you have a 2003 or newer, the pipes need to go...
