I had the instrument cluster replaced and the dealership cannot reprogram it to disable the front sensors. I'm looking into relocating the sensors. Does anyone know if chrome paint will affect them? Or, how compatible are the Ford sensors with aftermarket chrome sensors?
One word of caution if you are getting the IC replaced, be sure to check all of the features you have before driving away. The program for the Limited is different from the base model.
Calling the 800 number and getting someone from Ford to push the issue from their side made all the difference in the world. Problem has been fixed. No extra charges. They even offered a loaner vehicle.
Lesson learned is to not accept unsatisfactory service from a Service Center. Escalate...
There is actually a number to call if you run into issues with a Ford Service Center.
(800) 392-3673
They will assign a case number and a representative to push the issue from the Ford corporate side.
I'll let you know if it helps any.
OMFG! The new instrument cluster came in but now I can't reset the alarm on the front or the back bumper sensors. Also, there is no way anymore to leave the running boards out. I think they ordered the wrong instrument cluster but they are saying the new program doesn't allow me to do the...
Of course, they never call you when your part arrives so you have to call back and hound them about it. If the part arrives, it always "arrived late yesterday afternoon".
I wonder if they'll let me park the Expy myself or if I will have to watch them drive it over a curb and wedge it between...
Thanks, Man. That's wild that the technicians get paid so little yet the service center charges so much. Unfortunately, I have a bad instrument cluster and it seems the dealership is the only way to get the programming done...
I'll look back through past threads. Someone said they were going to relocate the sensors to the brush guard and cover them with chrome paint. I never heard back if they were successful.
My Instrument Cluster on my 2012 just took a dump. I'm also interested in how much cost and pain in the ass this is going to be. Just getting the service department at the dealership to answer the phone or return messages is proving tiresome.
Edit: Finally got in touch with the dealership...
I have seen the S&B. I have a K&N CAI on my 2012. I've been getting about 17 mpg lately. Also have a Flowmaster 40 muffler. Don't know if either one helped gas mileage that much, but they sound cool.
Thanks, Tom. Do you know if there is a way to change the defaults on the Setup menu? Specifically, I'd like the default for the front park assist to be <off>.
Is there a way change the front park assist default from <on> to <off>? That way, you could scroll through the setup and reset it if you wanted it to be on.
I am thinking about installing the Wolo Big Bad Max. Are any of you familiar with that one? At this time I don't want to mess with the compressor and tank addition for the true big horn sound.
