Well you have a 5.4L 3v and on my 2003 F150 5.4L 2v, that clicking sound is from the rocker arms, a common fail place for the 5.4L. This should help:

Welcome. I would steer clear of spacers. As for as it went for my Gen 10 F150 (which the Expedition is based on), the largest tire without rubbing is 285/70R17 or 295/70r17 if you trim the front air dam. I wouldn't know if the same applies to the Expeditions. Search around the forum.
