Can 2008 be raised a few inches? Inexpen$ively?

Know the feeling! Every time I bring up the tire purchase, the Mrs reminds me that I have a perfectly good set on it. They are starting to show some wear, but not necessary to drop a large stack on new ones at the moment. Funny how the Mrs can always bring me back to reality!!

    Is my trailer to big??

Need to know more about the RV. Baseline 7000 lbs...add in a water tank(35 gal?), propane cylinders(2?), holding tank and contents(yuck), food, gear, supplies, and anything else you'll throw into the RV....and the 1600 lbs of wiggle room quickly disappear. And when you do load, put a lot in...

Can 2008 be raised a few inches? Inexpen$ively?

Glad you like the programmer, makes a heck of a difference, doesn't it? Have fun with the install, it will be good to see another 3rd gen running around on here, ain't many of us. Then all you'll have to do is the larger rubber, I'm still waiting on mine, just haven't pulled the trigger yet...

Can 2008 be raised a few inches? Inexpen$ively?

Yep, my 08 is running the Truxxx 3/2 lift. I have about $700 into the kit, install, and new caster/camber keys. The kit claims 4x4 will clear 35's, but in reality a 33-34 is the better way to go, IMO. eBay kits run 100-150, Truxxx, ReadyLift run slightly higher. I have more into the...

    2009 EL sags towing trailer

Understandable, but not knowing what kind of TT, weight, how it's loaded, etc., I was just throwing out a variable for the op before opting to purchase equipment to bolster the rear. Agreed, a WD set up might be the way to go, but might not need if if he is under weight on the TT. If its a...

    2009 EL sags towing trailer

When you say sags, by how much? Might just need to adjust the tongue weight to lessen the sag. Cheap and easy, rather than adding parts and pieces to the rear. I tow a boat on a dual axel trailer and tip the scales at about 6000 lbs, never felt the need to alter the rear. Just remember...

What are the largest wheels that can be put on without modifications?

Stick right around the 32 in mark and you should be ok. Maybe even a 285/70/17 about 32.5 in could possibly work without mods or grinding. I've had 295/70/17 without the lift just to see and there was rubbing with the wheel turned and some rubbing when transitioning from roadway to driveways...

    07 expy lift questions

Truxxx 3/2 here(stamped steel). I stayed away from the eBay knock offs and went with a reputable company. Got the kit from autoanything.com. Road manners are about the same as stock, been under the Expy for the last year and a half. Eventually(still waiting) a set of 295/70/17 will fill the...

    Debating ESP

Since tony brought it up, just figured I'd share that, YES, it was financed into my deal when rolling off the lot. However, it only changed my payment by 8 bucks for a total of about $650-$700 on the deal. I can sleep better at night knowing I'm covered from Ford for 7 years or 100k and I ave...

    Debating ESP

I took the extended warranty right from the get go back in 2007 upon delivery. Power this, power that, a/c seat, heated seat, DVD, power lift gate, let alone the power train, all things that had me nervous enough to splurge for the coverage. Already used it on 2 coils, some trim pieces and...

    Hypertech max questions

They really upgraded that programmer! I don't have all the options on mine. The only thing I increased was the rev limit (+400). All that really did was increase the redline across the spectrum. As far as the fan is concerned, you have to install a different thermostat before you play with...

    newbie looking for info

Try to find the EL/Max in the model years that offered the 3.73 if you're gonna be in the neighborhood of 7000 lbs towing. The usual 3.55 put in them now make it a bit of a dog when loaded. Best mods?? Check my signature.

hesitation on heavy acceleration and cruise control

I have the extended warranty on mine and just had to pay the deductible($100) for the repair. Lucky for me, the tech sat in the passengers seat monitoring the laptop while I drove and replicated the stumble. The power balance will show peaks and vallies in graph form if there is a misfire...

hesitation on heavy acceleration and cruise control

Could be a coil misfiring. Bet it almost feels like you have a slipping tranny when the "bump" happens. I had coils 2 and 5 go bad and the "bump" would happen while on the cruise and hitting a slight incline where a bit more power was needed to maintain speed. I would call it more of a...

    4000+ mile vacation

Stutter could be a coil getting ready to go. Might be in that "in between" stage where it won't throw a CEL but gives slight stutter/miss at certain points. ECU adjusts for the miss and clears it before the engine light hits the dash. Just something to think about...

    Which mods first

Autoanything was my choice, had a promo code and free shipping, think I got it right around 200-225. What you see with your discounts looks like a good deal, and the Hypertech too. I did my Hypertech through 4 wheel parts cuz they're local(10 min ride) and I had a coupon for that as well...

    Which mods first

I looked at all of the eBay spacer lifts in various sizes but ultimately only got serious about name brand manufacturers. My decision came down to ReadyLift and Truxxx in the 3/2. I didn't want some fly by night company selling me something that was going on the vehicle my kids are riding in...

    Which mods first

If you're gonna do the lift, do you have enough saved up for the new rims/tires? Put the intake $ to them. Besides, you basically are free flowing with the intake set up already, really won't notice much of a difference besides sound.
