I had a similar noise when I turned left and right. I added motorcraft friction modifier to the differential fluid and the noise went away. The additive reduces wear in the clutch packs.
When you change the differential fluid, I would add motorcraft friction modifier... I would change the coolant and use the motorcraft brand. Also, I would take a look at the radiator supports for any corrosion...
I agree with roxy1225, especially if you are not sure when the plugs were changed, but it can also be bad gas... When I switched over to top tier gas, it made a big difference in my truck (03 5.4l) with smoother acceleration. My wife was complaining about the same thing at one time, random...
I had to rem/repl the fuse box on my 03 5.4 due to the relay overheating and melting the circuit board. This was a problem for the newer 03. The buzz you are hearing could be the starter relay. This is the same indication I had when my car did not start. I changed the relay twice before the fuse...
I had the ABS light once on my 2003 5.4 (no Advancetrac) and checked the resistance to all the 4 sensors to troubleshoot, found one which had a different resistance. Then I changed the abs sensor and removed a battery terminal for a few minutes, it fixed the problem.
every 5k w/motorcraft synthetic blend & filter until recently, at 125k 2003 5.4, I did not like this oil, seems with the higher mileage nearing the 5k the oil was extremely dirty, switched to full synthetic... will compare the difference and change the oil around the same interval.
I have used the bosch platinum plugs before because they were on sale. They were not to bad, lasted around 20,000. I returned to motorcraft, longer lasting...
A scan tool with the car running may help you get an idea of what is happening. Misfires or O2 sensor readings... Record the info over a period of time to troubleshoot.
I agree with toms89 in trying the PCM reset, as well as taking a look at the IAC. I have a 2003 5.4, and i have cleaned my IAC twice, its still the original part, yours may be filthy. And if you decide on the reset, give it a quite a few miles to readjust.
You can try cleaning the throttle body. The first time I did this it was real dirty, also took over an hour. Re-check the vacuum lines with the car running, spraying the lines with soapy water, any leaks you will see bubbles.
