I replaced a sensor on the brake pedal assembly that fixed my Cruise Control issue. It was like $10

There also is the sensor on the master cylinder but if your light stays on its probably not that sensor but its super cheap to replace.

FYI there is no sensor on the master cylinder on the 2ND gens for the speed control
On the first gens that sensor is also referred to as the deactivation switch on the second gens the deactivation switch is located inside at the brake pedal also on the brake pedal is the Brake Position Switch

I always forget where the 1st and 2 gen border is. It does just seem like a cheap sensor though. The computers are rarely a problem.

02 was the last of the 1st gen's 1997 to 2002
06 was the last of the 2nd gens 2003 to 2006
