I unplugged mine due to the pump constantly running. Only downfall I had from disconnecting it was I lost cruise control. I hope to get to a salvage yard soon and swap it out.
Hmmmm.....my first question would be does it still do this at the same speed (or at all) if overdrive is turned off? If no, it could be tranny shudder when its trying to shift into overdrive. My expy did the same until I changed over to Mercon V fluid. Other than that, it could be a weak coil...
I tried the additive route first...didn't work for me. Changed filter, put mercon V back in it, and that did the trick. Can hardly feel the shifts now.
Good deal! Got her fixed , and saved a wad of money to boot! Sorry, I didn't remember to warn you about that o-ring. I should have remembered that! As far as the injectors go, there will be a SLIGHT snap when they go into place correctly. It's so slight, you may not even feel it.....kind of a...
I posted this in the other thread, but in case you come here first. The o-ring you found in the parts/screw package goes on the plastic elbow that twist locks on the back of the manifold to prevent a vacuum leak. That sounds like what your hearing, and whats causing the intermittent rough idle...
There was a plastic elbow that twist locked on the back of the manifold. That o-ring should go on that elbow to prevent a vacuum leak. Fix that and replace the injector o-ring and you should be good to go. I think I paid less than 5 bucks for a 4 pack of those at the parts store.
It's not as bad as it looks. If your able to do basic mechanic type work, you can do this too. Wish I had went ahead and changed the plugs on mine while I had it down that far. Would have made changing them a piece of cake, but since she was running great on the ones I had, I didn't. It can be...
Sorry man. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you didn't know about it.....like I didn't. So far, for what Ive had to do to mine, none have been a deal breaker for me. The manifold swap wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. These Expy's are great suv's. I wouldn't hesitate to get...
Yep, keep it handy. Its just a matter of time before it stops working. Glad to hear you got it fixed. Something else to keep an eye on if you have the 5.4L (if the intake manifold hasn't been replaced yet) is if you have a slow coolant leak you cant seem to find, take a flashlight and check all...
The brake light switch attached to the brake pedal is a common failure part that causes a no brake light issue when the third brake light still works. Had this on my 2000 expy also. Easy change, and not expensive. Cant say from personal experience on the turn signal switch, but from my reading...
"IF" someone was to go by this chart found on the net, would these readings be taken at idle? Also, would they hold true for all R134A systems, including the dual air Expy's? Hopefully, i will never have the need....just curious.
My 2000 expy with no tow package has the same connector KWT2000 had in his picture. Could it be a plug that is universal to other fords with a different type of connection? Hard to say without a pic......just a random thought I had. I could be way off base with that though.
I will probably buy some new headlights for mine in the near future too. I keep cleaning them every couple months with a headlight cleaner kit, but they just keep yellowing back up. Any suggestions on where to get some stock ones at a decent price for my 2000?
Finally had the time to put the new end links on this afternoon, and W O W what a difference in handling! Hopefully this will be the last thing I have to fix on this thing, and I can enjoy driving it for a while.
Thanks, I finally found a picture for reference. Can't believe I didn't notice this the first few times I gave it a once over. This probably explains the front end roll-over I've noticed lately. Anyways, any brand recommendations?
Last couple of weeks I have been hearing a light "tinking" sound when going over bumps with my windows down. After looking several times, I finally found the source. The front sway bar connections on both sides are VERY loose. Both bolts have at least 2 to 3 inches of play in them, but the nylon...
I keep getting confusing info.....Some say "the bigger the better", and others say "you don't want it to run too cool". At what temp is "too cool"? The winters here in Georgia are not very bad, but if I needed to, I could just swap it back to just the radiator over wintertime, and cap off the...
I THINK I've narrowed down my search to a cooler like the one pictured. I say "think" because my "wants" were:
1 - I can mount it to frame of truck instead of just thru radiator with clips that may rub and cause a leak.
2 - It has a fair sized cooling area.
3- no electric fan needed...
Until someone with more knowledge chimes in, I have a 2000 model and my fuse under the hood was also blown when I bought it. I replaced the fuse and still didn't have right side turn/brake lights either. I found a plug connection under the air filter housing that wasn't allowing power to pass...
