    2010 SSV advice

As i said before, I lived in CT/New England for the first 25 years of my life. I commuted all over CT, in and out of NY city, Boston, all over the tri-state area. The only vehicles we ever had a rust issue with was my 83-85 Toyota trucks (I had 7 of them altogether but thats another story in...

Suspension Enhancements to Help with Sagging

Those are a poor fix. They fill the space that the coil would compress effectively limiting spring movement. This applies more stress to the the other coils forcing them to do added work (which can result in premature failure). It also results in a different ride quality; tends to be more...

Is that a standard paint or an epoxy paint? What electrical upgrades are you doing?

    Feedback on Extended Length Expeditions

Get the EL. The additional length is constantly useful, does not hamper parking/manueverability, gives you the larger gas tank and in my opinion is more aesthetically pleasing.

    2010 SSV advice

I lived in Northwest CT for 25 years, I’m not living in the south now by choice. I hear you about the rockers though, wish more people did proper basic maintenance (like washing your car after it snows, at a minimum spraying off all the slush-pack and caked on road-goo)

    2010 SSV advice

VIN declares it an SSV. I thought the same, so I googled the 2010 SSV ordering info and sure enough you can order all the features of an XLT in the SSV platform.

    Kewl, got my CCL!

Come to the south. Actually, go to any ‘non-city’ place and report back about what YOU observe.

    Another mud flap question....

The Huskys look and fit well. I have them on my 2012 and the wife’s 08 Exploder. Very happy with them. They are not too close to the exhaust, plenty of air-space around that to keep everything cool.

    Vibration during constant speed

Welcome to the forum. Filter was probably very dirty and restricting flow through the trans, causing excessive heat and essentially evaporating some of the fluid. You lucked out. Very easily could have burned up/grenaded the entire trans. Good oem filter and good fluid, NO ADDITIVES!!! I...

    Wheel Alignment on 2013 Expedition

You CAN get it closer to perfect, but you are within spec. Just make sure tires are properly balanced and inflated to correct pressures and you will be good to go.

    2010 SSV advice

The seller is a private owner who bought it from a Ford dealer in 2012 with 32k on it. Has had 17” premium rims, interior doesn’t look like the stripped down version. Didn’t see the shifter, so can’t comment on it. Truck is in Connecticut, which has high vehicle prices anyways. Has the...

    2010 SSV advice

A family member fell in love with my Expy and wants to up grade from her Buick Encore to an Expy. Safety is biggest reason. They found a grey 2010 Expy SSV 4wd, 79k, clean vehicle history, good maintenance records and in very good condition: asking price is $12,800. I think she can work that to...

    Bug Deflector

I went with the stick-on smoked “hood guard”. Its subtle and definately protects the leading edge of the hood. Bugs? Not sure if it helps as it was one of my first mods when i got the truck. I have had mixed results with the bug guards in the past. We have the Ford badged smoked bug guard that...

Exactly why i went to the “Orange” brand stem TPMS sensors. They were something like $10 a piece. Glad you got it figured out.

    CJB nightmare

I would use a soldering iron and just replace that solid copper line with a piece of stranded wire. Any wire that is dense enough to cover at least 1/2 the width of the copper line (when insulation is stripped off) will be plenty to carry the current. Won’t take you 5 minutes to fix that and...

Issue with USB in center console

I was under the impression that the usb inside the center console was only for updating the sync system. I could be wrong and someone smarter than me will hopefully chime in.

    9.75 limited slip rebuild

that Chris guy is a clown. Anyone know if I can just toss a l/s carrier into a non-l/s housing? I miss having l/s or locker in the rear. Maybe Chris or Chris know if they aren’t too busy swinging their purses at each other.

    Front End Shake

Good advice with the road force balancing. Is there any chop or odd wear on the tires? Anything indicitive of bad balancing or alignment? If you are constantly warping rotors I would look at the brake hoses. If one or both of the hoses are internally collapsed it will maintain fluid pressure on...

New Spec-D LED Tail Light Install

They look really good! How bright are they at night? That chrome trim really makes them pop. Personally I lean more towards seperate turn signal lights in amber. For some reason I have always disliked the “combo brake-turn signal” bulbs in red. I know its not an option with our vehicles but I...

    Wheel Hub Maintenance

Applying heat to stuck steel wheels is a common thing in rust belt states and New England, especially on tractor trailers/large trucks. Its not to burn off the paint/finish, it heats the moisture in the corrosion and causes steam which expands (and dries to dust) along with the typically metal...

What repairs do you still need?

Figured out my “clunk”....... Bad t-case shift motor. I am going to attempt to pop the cover off with the 3 torx screws and clean it up underneath. If that fails then a new one will be ordered.

    Windshield Washer Fluid (part 2)

Huh, you don’t say? A faulty part? Wow, all those geniuses insisting upon lack of common sense being the cause must have somehow overlooked the impossible conclusion of a faulty part. HOPEFULLY SOME OF THEM WILL HAVE THE FORTITUDE TO OWN UP AND APOLOGIZE. Glad its being repaired under warranty.
