Thanks. It's been raining on/off the last two days and my in-laws' farm shop has been full of equipment so today is the first day I'll get a chance to look at it.
Can I get it evacuated even if I'm not ready to do the rest of the work? (Shop might be able to do it today but I can't get parts...
Mine suddenly quit opening. The sr will move slightly up or down but will not continue to open. In other words, it's getting power and the motor starts to do its thing...
Thanks, Navi. Will do. Looks to be a $2-300 part (the compressor alone). If it is the problem - and I think it is - then how difficult a job is this to replace? I imagine the refrigerant has to be evacuated and maybe some other parts needed to be replaced when opening up the AC system.

I could hear a noise coming from my wife's expy when she arrived home today. I could tel something wasn't right and when I got to the back door, she had the window open because she wanted to tell me about it. It's hard to describe the sound but it was a chss-chss-chss... quite rapid and loud...
If I only move the lever up or down a little bit and let go (basically tapping the lever), my blinker only blinks about 5 times and shuts off automatically. So, if changing lanes, you aren't having to hold it or accidentally leave it on. This is on my GMC truck.

The right-hand image is where I scrubbed. I can see that the paint is scraped off - my fault. Augh.
The left-hand photo just looks like stains in the paint.
In addition to my Gen 3 Exped, we have a 2010 Escape. I finally got the console out today so I could find the keycode for the entry system. Meanwhile, I saw how 'stained' the silver/gray plastic appeared. I tried a few cleaners and finally used some Dawn detergent......with some steel wool at...
So, the other night, I was packing the Exped for our annual trip to Canada and thought about fixing the wiper jets. I tried the jets while sitting still and for the FIRST TIME I noticed a THIRD SPOT where fluid was coming up! The two jets plus a spot in the trim almost to the far right of the...
Guys, I guess I'll find out for real today but it seems that it's fixed. I'm a little tentative. Yesterday, I nearly lost all of my religion. I was so frustrated with yet another "simple" procedure becoming a long, drawn-out ordeal. I owe it folks like you who willingly take the time to give a...
Tested whether it was a hose or caliper. Drove it this morning, and immediately backed off the bleed screw. Fluid dribbled out. Took the caliper off, and applied brakes. Only one piston moved.
Got a new caliper, new rotor, and new pads. Replaced all but the bracket. The pins on the original...
I feel weird putting grease on the clips that the pad slides on. Seems like putting a lube near the braking surface is not smart. However, I must be wrong bc everyone says to do it, it seems.

I admit, I don't know about the break-in procedure. I've done a "good number" of pads over the years (my own vehicles) but will be glad to know more.
I did not check the pins and will do so today.

I will add that the one pad (I think outside pad, same one that was worn down last time) had a lot of brake dust already in the little 'v' between the two section of padded material on the pad.
Changed out pads and rotors last week. Was surprised to find one pad (outside only) worn down to nothing. I had just put these cheap pads on 6 months ago in Canada while on a trip. (After replacing struts and stuff before the trip, I looked through the caliper and figured I'd make it. 800 miles...
The driver seat of my 2010 Expedition has lost a lot of its support in the seat area (not the back). It's kind of a sunken hole there. The passenger side is much better. I find it terribly uncomfortable. I know if I just put a pillow there or a gel pad or whatever, it's going to take the same...
It took me a long time to finally find the info under the glove compartment needed to change the code. (Bought used and dealer didn't know code). We set it to the same as my mother in law's code bc everyone knows that code.
A week after I set it, my family locks themselves out, in town, in the...
Following up on some open threads. Sorry about that.
I started this thread last December before a big trip. Got the struts done and figured the brakes would last. Well loo and behold, 800 miles later, in Ontario, and I hear brakes grinding. (Where'd those warning so sounds go?) Since I had...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your replies and I'm sorry for not responding. (I fear I have a number of open threads that I didn't follow up on. I got overwhelmed with other parts of life and was glad to have the main issue (random stalling) fixed.
My jets still spray low. [emoji2955] maybe I'll...
My windshield fluid jets seem to be weak or simply aimed low. Barely any fluid lands above the wiper so it's pretty much wasted and does nothing well. I took a paper clip and inserted the end (a few moments ago) thinking that the jet would be adjustable inside its housing. However, it seems like...
Returned my quick-struts today. $300 back in the account is sweet. My wife returned about $200 in clothes that didn't fit the kids and some Christmas presents...
...all while driving a smooth-driving Expy. :)
