My windshield fluid jets seem to be weak or simply aimed low. Barely any fluid lands above the wiper so it's pretty much wasted and does nothing well. I took a paper clip and inserted the end (a few moments ago) thinking that the jet would be adjustable inside its housing. However, it seems like it's pretty much fixed in place - like a hard piece of plastic with a hole in it.

I may have helped it a little bit - but it's dark and I didn't test it on the road. It seems that the driver side shoots higher than before. I could not make much difference on the left.

Any suggestions? I'm thankful it wasn't snowing on our recent trip to Canada. The salt spray and poor wiper jets would've made for a terrible drive.

mine pretty much sprays the upper part of the windshield below 50 mph....some days though it takes three presses to get JUICE...
i have no idea if they can be adjusted...
want a laugh...the wipers on the bus have the jets on the arm about half way up...they spray everywhere but the windshield ...useless.

I’d be interested to know as well, mine spray high on the windshield stopped and I think some ends up on the roof. At highway speeds the wind forces it straight at the windshield however, so maybe this is intentional.

It might be that their getting clogged. Very common with age, and usage. The soapy stuff, along with time like our artires get blocked. Also if someone did any painting of your vehicle, overspray will plug them. Try for giggles, buy a new one, driver's side, see if it improves. As you all know I drive a 2000 daily, and use my spritzer daily. It works flawless. Unless Ford ruined something on later models, I betting like a grizzly for hibernation, your plugged.

I take a straight pin and gently insert into hole and move pin to try to adjust stream where I think is best. Not sure is it really aims or not but it keeps strong flow coming and makes me feel better.

I do aim the passenger side a little high and the driver's side at middle of wiper pattern. That seems to keep liquid on windshield at any speed. High speed floods from passenger side and slow speed from driver's side. Works for me. Hope it helps you.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your replies and I'm sorry for not responding. (I fear I have a number of open threads that I didn't follow up on. I got overwhelmed with other parts of life and was glad to have the main issue (random stalling) fixed.

My jets still spray low. [emoji2955] maybe I'll fix em before our next trip. However, right now, I'd rather get my boat back on the water! [emoji1787]

I think you need a better tool than a paper clip is your issue. They are minor adjustments to be made the end is like a small bearing with a hole through it (at least on my 2011 they are). I use a fine dental pick. They are much stronger than the paper clip and the fine tip can get in the hole better (like someone above used a needle). As moose said, they clog up. I have to clean mine once a year or so at least.

The squirters on my Porsche had heaters and check valves at the nozzle. Pretty nifty, except the heater eventually melted the check valve closed.

DP5Z-17603-A is the OEM nozzle part number and its a common part on various Ford/Lincolns.

The spray pump itself has a mesh screen acting as a filter keep debris from ruining the pump. I'd check that this screen isn't coming apart, allowing gunk to clog the nozzles. Below is a image of the pump and the mentioned screen. Its part number is 7L2Z-17664-A and its reasonably priced.

So, the other night, I was packing the Exped for our annual trip to Canada and thought about fixing the wiper jets. I tried the jets while sitting still and for the FIRST TIME I noticed a THIRD SPOT where fluid was coming up! The two jets plus a spot in the trim almost to the far right of the windshield. I lifted up the trim and saw that there is a joint in the hose there with a plastic fitting. The fitting was broken it fell apart when I tried to look at it. (I didn't have the trim removed, just pried up a bit.) In my hand were a small piece of plastic and a small spring.) I ended up finding a small hose barb to put the two ends back together and now my jets almost go over the windshield standing still but at speed, the fluid hits the glass. I will say that the spray is finer than it used to be it seems. Not sure what that part was for. I figured it had to do with shutting off the flow when the pressure stopped.
