I have a '17 Limited with only 50k on the clock with front end issues. My son says it's either ball joints or tie rod ends.
My local Ford dealer hasn't really inspired a great deal of confidence. Has anyone had someone else do work of this nature on the Cape that they would recommend?
thanks
My 2017 has a huge protective shield (something similar to cardboard?) that makes filter access a pita. I chose to bring it to a Jiffy Lube type place- a first for me.
JasonH said in a post above that he just let it drain and it wasn't too much of a mess. Jason, did you mean you removed the...
These problems sound awful and I wasn't aware of them 'til now.
I've got a 2017 Ltd bought new in 2018, 42k on the clock. I've only removed the wheels once and never had a problem. Do I have the lug nuts that will swell up?
I obviously don't want to find out the hard way I got the bad ones!
Yes. I wrote that I jiggled the wires to the connections under the front passenger seat and it has been fine ever since. Just try pushing the connections together tighter.
Maybe I was just lucky but it's certainly worth a try.
2017 Expy with tow package and 43k. My Hankook tires have a pretty aggressive tread and have been good. Just got the vehicle inspected and no issues with tread depth. I tow a 7,000 lb boat.
I did have a bit of traction issues recently in about a foot of snow. Didn't expect to need 4L to get...
Good information, Mark, thanks.
I will certainly reference this should the need arise. My vehicle sat on the lot for a year before I bought it. Maybe it delayed the melting situation.
Yesterday I looked under the front passenger seat and saw an electrical box and some attached wires and plugs. I wiggled all the fittings I could see and tried to push them together more securely.
Today the heated seat actually heated. I just hope it lasts until the weather turns warmer so I...
I ordered the shop manual you suggested, but I'm still not sure if it is a hard copy or not. It says it will be here next Thursday, so it seems weird that if they are sending it digitally it would take that long.
In any event, thanks for suggesting the manual and I hope I can figure it out once...
My '17 Expy's heated driver's seat was great (one of my favorite features in a vehicle) until it wasn't. It went to cold instead.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I never used to hear the fan when I activated the heat on the driver's seat. When I heard the fan kick...

The paint on the running board of my '17 Limited has peeled off in several spots. I have not had any retracting issues (40k on the clock) yet, so things could be worse.
First, maybe a laughable question considering all the issues with our Expys and paint, but, any chance it might be a warranty...
To increase gas mileage I believe watching the mpg screen on the dash helps a LOT. Granted, you can't do this very much towing big loads, but a lot of the time I make a game out of it by seeing if I can continually see a tenth of a mpg improvement. It REALLY can make a difference if you don't...
I bought a new '17 Limited in '18.
With 41,000 miles I have had very few issues with it, nothing power train-related, all of them minor.
I had an extended warranty once on a big block marine engine that I learned was a waste of $ because it only covered internal components lubricated with oil...
Somehow my service records booklet is gone and I forget what Ford recommends.
I've been using Mobil 1 and prefer continuing with that. I live in the Northeast.
'17 Limited with tow package. 40k on clock.
Thanks,
Peter
It's been said that if you have an accident with a vehicle towing over the designated towing limits your insurance company will deny the claim.
Anyone have any first-hand knowledge of this?
I had the same issue with my '17 Limited. The dealer seemed confused and wasn't clear on a possible fix.
Went to this website. Guys immediately said it was a fob battery issue. Problem solved.
I bought a new '17 in '18 because I didn't want to get the first year of a new generation. I'm happy with that choice.
However, I see that people are recommending a "catch can". I remember reading something about that, but, bottom line- what is a catch can and do I really need one?
My '17 has...
By the way, when I asked the Service guy why it wouldn't start when the fob was cold but WOULD start when the fob was warm, he had no clue as to what the issue was.
When I said the same thing to the Service Manager later,
he said that it MIGHT be temperature related but wasn't sure.
MikeL had...
