black paint for running board?

The paint on the running board of my '17 Limited has peeled off in several spots. I have not had any retracting issues (40k on the clock) yet, so things could be worse.

First, maybe a laughable question considering all the issues with our Expys and paint, but, any chance it might be a warranty issue? I do NOT have an extended warranty.

So, anyone else have this issue? If so, what paint should I use?

I would get it painted with a good bed liner and call it good. They're basically rocker panel guards and get a lot or road abuse.
