    Wow. That’s rust. Mine is just now popping blisters. If I fix it it’ll last me a couple years before it starts to bubble up again. Damn shame cause truck looks and runs excellent.

    My truck is much older but I’ve been using the Monroe 90010 kit for my coil over conversion and I got 80k out of the first kit. Just installed a new one few months ago. Can’t complain getting 80k in the rust belt w harsh winters and salt.

    From watching fordmacaluco videos it appears one of the major weak points is the oil pump. Which is why he uses Melling pumps when he does the job.

    I can attest to the same a service writer I’ve used for 10 years told me the exact same thing. He invited me to look at the 5.4’s they’re rebuilding and swapping. They to the phaser job every day including on certain year 5.0’s!

    So I’m thinking about an F-150 between 2010 -2014. I’ve now eliminated 2010 and 2014. Really gotta do research on model years I guess. Some people on these forums swear by using OE parts only.

    Thinking further I have a machine shop near me Im thinking of having them polish the inside of the ports to remove the nubs and make sure all the ports are smoothed out. Would this help reduce cylinder variation?

    The MC are not available for both banks and are ridiculously expensive. They are all made in China unfortunately. I purchased the ATP's. I will have them polished up to ensure smoothness and minimize cylinder to cylinder variances. Maybe even polish the ports.
