I would say tell them to go F*&^ themselves. Go see the GM and tell him you're trading in for a Chevy and you're telling all your friends, chat boards, forums, etc. That when you get done he'll see his gross drop faster than a ho who is flashed with a $20 bill.
Thats the Cuban in me.
Twice in two weeks.
2 weeks ago my truck wouldn’t turn over in the parking lot of my hotel on my way to a sales meeting at a Ford dealer. Got to dealer. Battery plus starter.
Last week just blocks away from another meeting at a Ford customer of mine my battery figure lights up on my dash...
My buddy has a 2018 F150 w 3.5 EB and 58k miles. Drives great especially compared to my 1st gen Expy.
Today he stalled out and has fuel flooding his injector on one bank. Truck is going to dealer in morning.
I’ll be pulling into that dealer in my truck that has 224,xxx. I just had to replace...
140 miles a day... I do that on beer runs. :D
This is what’s going on mid summer.

Yes you could. But it has to be 4WD AND have the factory package not just the hitch which you can get without the towing package.
I verified at Ford dealer yesterday.
Thanks for that thread. I don’t believe that guy knows what he has. There is no “class III towing package “ on these Explorers. There is a class III tow hitch. There’s a “trailer tow package “ that has different rear differential, oil and transmission cooler.
I bet that dude is trying to tow...
What was the final effect? How much difference, if any, did it make?
How much better would it ride if all were replaced?
Looking to understand all the contributing factors to improving smoothness on these 1st gens.
I have the 4-corner Monroe coil over kit. I’m looking at getting Michelin’s...
I believe in my op I mentioned that we’ve never towed w her explorer because I have a 1st gen expy.
Reason I was thinking about this project was to be able to tow 3500-5000lbs as do explorers that have the trailer towing package.
Thanks for the responses.
I drive 99% highway, 500-1000 miles weekly. If I drive at 65-75 mph I’ll use 1 quart between oil changes at 4000 mile intervals w 5-30 synthetic.
If I drive 85mph+ for hours each day I’ll use as much as 2 quarts between 4000 mile oil changes.
I think it all depends on driving style and use.
This is for my wife’s 2016 EXPLORER. It’s a front wheel drive base model w normally aspirated V6 engine.
As it sits it tows 1500lbs but we’ve never used it for towing since I have the old 1st gen Expy.
If I add a transmission cooler and hitch is that all I need to increase towing capacity...
I’ve driven my 1st gen from Chicago to Florida and back 4-5 year. Some trips were 24 hours.
Make sure you bring oil to keep it topped off and that your spare is good w all the necessary tools.
Think about your alternator, battery, radiator coolant, and tires.
I think you’re going to come to the realization that these are not off road nor overland trucks. That truck won’t last long driving out there, not without putting serious money and customizations at least and still it wasn’t designed for that use.
I love the color.
