Despite showing 107k on the odo I was able to determine the body has about 315k
Engine is unknown, all vehicle history is unknown, maintenance history is unknown.
I'm brown boots, full thread. I'm going to blame the prior owner for whatever that was....
Complete set of plugs installed with new boots/springs. Added 3mpg to my average (11.6 to 14.7). Cured the #3 misfire, although I still have codes for cam/crank correlation.
So, found the time to dive into this on Sunday.
This is what I found on cylinder 5:
Looks like damaged threads and a plug blowout.
I’ve been throwing codes for a cylinder 3 misfire, so I decided to change all the plugs (NGK platinum), new boots and springs, and I swapped in a junkyard...
I had several appointments I had to get to. I limped it to the nearest parking lot, snapped a quick vid to get a couple ideas, and had to leave.
I won’t be able to get my hand in the engine bay until tomorrow afternoon.
I appreciate the armchair diagnosis, it helps me decide whether I want to...
My 2008 has 315k miles on it and the seat foam is completely shot, hard as a rock and completely flat. Looking online in appears that replacement foam for 07-08 is the same, but 10-15 is different and won’t cross reference. Also, it doesn’t appear there’s any aftermarket options for the 07/08...
When I bought the truck it said 104k on the odometer.
After some additional research it’s actually got 315,000 miles on it.
The maintenance history is entirely unknown.
Reman engines are going for about the same cost as a dealer timing job on the 5.4’s
What are the pros and cons of doing a reman engine vs just having a timing job done?
Bumping…
Nobody here has done an electric fan swap and got rid of the mechanical?
More power, more mpg, and ridiculously more room in the engine bay?
If I find the right junkyard parts I’ll do a write-up for here.
Valvoline Maxlife is SP compatible.
I just used it in my 08 with the 6r75 and many others have used it in their f150’s with success for hundreds of thousands of miles.
I use Maxlife in all my cars, great products.
two weeks ago I did a transmission filter and fluid fill on my 08 with a 6r75.
When I dropped the pan I noticed the fluid level was already low, no waterfall of atf.
Drove for a week and was fine. Left for vacation for six days, and came home to a puddle of atf underneath.
Did the 6r75...
Aaaaand I’m a moron.
I finally got underneath to source the noise, turns out it wasn’t the transmission.
Somehow the lower fan shroud wasn’t secured and had shifted to make contact with the fan.
Has anyone here completed an efan conversion? I would love to free up the space under the hood and get rid of some of that parasitic loss from the mechanical fan. If so, how did you wire it and how did our ecu handle the change?
With the noise dependent on being in-gear and only reverse not having the noise I’m thinking either torque converter or the clutch pads in the transmission are shot… maybe?
Another angle:

It’s not the fan shroud hitting the fan. Other opinions are a starter that’s not disengaging.
I honestly can’t tell if it’s internal or external at this point, and haven’t had the time to dive deeper.
Looking to pull a junkyard steering wheel to drop into my 2008 KR (top leather is trashed on mine).
Does any year 07-17 Expedition wheel bolt on, or am I limited to certain years? Do I need to swap the clock spring to match the wheel? What is the main nut size, or is it a torx? Would a wheel...
