    Noise on start up

Well...I recently bought this thing and knew it would be a labor of love. I’ve done a few coil packs, spark plugs, starter, ac compressor, transmission fluid flush, new tires, and brakes/rotors at all 4 corners. At this point, if the engine work gets another 100k or more miles out of it...I’ll...

Must hit below glovebox for AC to start. What is in that area for AC

That's gotta be a loose wire or relay. Have you removed any panels to see what's there? Is anything else working sporadically?

The Ford one should be just fine. Maybe consider the cam phasers tho. It’s a lot of work to do the tensioners. Like the mechanic told me today...doesn’t make sense to NOT do them while you’re in there. Not required obviously. Just wise. 2007 Ford Expedition Limited Sent from my iPhone...

    Interior work

Part of the reason I went with vinyl was because I didn’t have to pull the rest of the console apart. The side gray/silver pieces are attached to the bigger unit. I’ve worked with a few brands. If you can get something 3M it’s usually best. I bought this stuff at hobby lobby and had to use...

    facelift anyone?

Judging from the pictures...it looks like you're talking about headlights, bumper, grill, not to mention any mounting points that might've changed...even a few mm would create difficulty.

Everything i've read and even heard today at the mechanic...installing a higher flow oil pump is a really good thing for these engines.

    Noise on start up

I have 170k on mine. Like mentioned earlier...it’s quiet when running. The start up clatter is what got me going down this road. I also watched the FordTechMakuLoco video and he stated that this issue (timing chain tensioner) is one NOT to let go since it has domino effect causing several...

    Noise on start up

Ahhh, that makes sense. You’re prob right...it’s too invasive and their techs prob don’t have the skills or maybe even the time. It’s easier to sell a new engine and move on. I spose for $2500, getting both timing chain tensioner, hi flow oil pump, and the cam phasers...it’s not a bad price...

I tried the bottle of STP high mileage oil treatment someone else recommended on this forum. That was over a month ago...start up noise still the same unfortunately.

    Noise on start up

Got a few quotes this morning. Ford dealer said they don't really crack open the 5.4's anymore. That was interesting. Another guy said they don't work on them. Third shop I found has a great reputation, and quoted me $2500 to do the tensioners and the cam phasers all in one shot. Makes...

    Noise on start up

Was using 5w20 and recently switched to 5w30. Primarily when it’s cold at start up. It only lasts 2-3 seconds. It’ll randomly do it when it’s hot but it’s far less common. Who did the work for you? Dealer? Independent shop? 2007 Ford Expedition Limited Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need input...what does this sound like is the issue? Timing chain? Cam phasers? None of the above? It only happens at start up...worse when it’s cold. 2007 Ford Expedition Limited Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Interior work

I’ve used vinyl in previous vehicles and it held up better than the stock painted plastic did. Never got dull or faded. In fact...I used to pull off trim pieces and paint them for years...but now if a piece can be wrapped...i go the vinyl route. I’ve actually thought about starting an auto...

    Interior work

When I purchased my 2007 Expy...I knew it would need some interior work. Today I took apart the center console, cleaned up years of spilled soda, clear coated the dull plastic wood trim, and then laid vinyl over the badly worn trim pieces. I think it looks MUCH better! 2007 Ford...

The ones I installed are not quite as bright as some of the others. They have a frosted lens on them making the light whiter but not harsher. Sounds like you’re friend put some super bright ones in. You can look on eBay for ones that are warmer colors. And you’re absolutely right...it’s a...

Sure they will. Just like getting your fav color vehicle or those rims you like, or getting your hair cut the way you like it, or even landscaping your yard. None of those things improve the quality of your life...but they do allow you to express your freedom and individuality. And I...
