Funny you sent me that Drive Bright link...
The owner of that business reached out to me like 5 years ago when I had a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium and he wanted to use my car as a demo vehicle for his driving lights. He lives not far from me. Super nice guy.
I’ll put some led’s in and see how...
Question, has anyone ever replaced their license plate lights in the rear hatch with LEDs?
I had a Ford Freestar a few years back and when I put LEDs in the license plate lights, the PCM Apparently thought there was a short in the system and shut down that circuit. Even when I put normal...
Finally warm enough in KC to get the Expy washed and snap a few pics.
Thinking about deleting those running board steps. Not sure I like the bare look without them though. I know the automatic running boards can be a pain but I like the clean look they provide when closed.
I hear you. However, technology has given us incredibly reliable vehicles that do not require tuneups every 20,000 miles, new spark plugs every 25,000 miles, distributor caps, points, and all of the other fun stuff we had to constantly maintain. I think the trade-off is fairly reasonable for...
I'm not going to pick on a brother in blue. We're cool.
FYI...I wasn't speaking to your beef with another member. I was speaking to your blanket statements about those who like their TPMS as being incompetent at starting their own lawnmower (amongst other things). I get your disdain for...
I’m rather new to this forum, but I also have years of automotive experience...everything from pursuit driving in law enforcement to my dad racing stock cars and turning wrenches since I was a kid.
Like LokiWolf, i also appreciate TPMS. If I hit a nail while driving, it doesn’t matter how...
I’ve always gotten one more start out of a bad starter by whacking it with a hammer...but that’s it. Never seen one work intermittently.

Update:
Took it to Ford to ask about the key programming maybe causing the issue. While my Expy was pulled in the service area...it wouldn’t start. At least I didn’t have to pay for it to be towed!
Turns out it was the starter. I’ve never seen one stop and start and then stop and start...
Ok...random theory:
I have an aftermarket remote start.
Today, I went to Ford and had them cut/program two additional keys. I don't know if it's related, but is it possible that Ford programming the new keys could screw with the aftermarket remote start...thereby causing my Expy engine not...
So...just went out and it started. I shut it down and it started again.
What gives? Now I’m at a loss.

Just got home from seeing Jim Gaffigan...(guy is hilarious)...and now the Expy won’t start. Battery is good...everything turns on...just doesn’t turn over at all.
Prob the starter? I know in some vehicles there’s a switch that’ll prevent your car from starting if the trans isn’t in park or...
I’ll add that I always do my own brakes. Don’t trust shops anymore...too many minimum wage workers rushing to get cars in and out.
So doing rotors and pads for me are still cheaper than doing just the pads at a shop.

I change the rotors whenever I do the pads.
There might not be scoring, but the pads mate to the rotors. When changing pads, it takes some time for the new ones to mate to the old rotors.
Additionally, I absolutely despise driving a vehicle with rotors that get warped. If you end up having...
I’d change the batteries in the fobs. Then I’d disconnect the main battery under the hood for 5-10 min and see if that resets the system and resolves the issue.
If none of those work...you might be looking at some electrical issues. Esp if it just started randomly but wasn’t doing it before...
I’m aware you don’t start it by locking the door. I’m trying to narrow down the issue.
Is it stock remote start or an aftermarket one?
When is the last time you changed the battery in the fob?

Did you buy the vehicle new? If not...you might have a remote starter installed. I know with mine...I can use the aftermarket fob or the stock fob to start it. It just requires hitting the buttons in a simple sequence.
That’s my two cents.

Ok thank you for the input.
Last night I changed the oil and put a motorcraft filter on...it was still some off brand on there from when I bought it a few mo back. I’ll see if fresh oil and quality filter makes a diff.
Oil pressure has seemed fine so I’m hoping this does the trick...
It’s not an ‘underpowered slug’ just because it’s not making peak power at 1600rpm. It would be ‘underpowered’ if it ONLY made 160hp at any point in the powerband.
The 5.4 has a fairly linear powerband which is what makes it ideal for a truck...esp for towing.

I’m sure this has been talked about but my search yielded no results.
2007 Expy Limited. When starting in the morning I get a fast knocking that goes away within a second or two. Only happens when cold starting it. What’s the culprit? Lifters? Cam phaser? Rotory girder? [emoji38]
