    DIY Oil Change

After using up my Ford Pass Rewards and paying when out of town, I just did the fifth oil change at 22K. Ford dealers offer a competitive rate for The Works with tire rotation, however although Ford advertises it at $49.99- there of course is an asterisk. Ford in Montrose, CO honored it, yet...

    Tailgate button sticking?

First button replacement lasted 2 weeks. After searching here I told dealer about the plastic housing being likely the problem. There evidently is a new part less likely to allow button to hang up. As a precaution the replaced button again too. No problems for 3 months now.

Those that have had the cam phasers replaced

China bombs used to mean crappy trailer tires. Anyone old enough to remember the TV series Hawaii 5-0 and arch-villian Wo-Fat? Fiction has become reality again. And now we have someone in charge who likes their money. Just like the Universities in Australia who silence dissent over Human Rights...

Positive Vibes Only / Expedition Greatness

Was about to say my first Ford, yet actually had a '69 Club Wagon with 302 my Italian friends used for a cross country trip in '74. This one was in Diamonds are Forever. Love the Expedition- it replaced a '13 Yukon which was capable, just not nearly as comfortable and the power is awesome. 22K...

2wd with Electronic Locking Diff in Snow

My Jura was great for ten years; the new Philips (Saeco) are better IMO. Only AWD I've ever owned was a '13 Highlander to pull my Escape 17B. FWD only for towing really sucks. Now with a 21 with another 1000#'s we moved up to a real SUV, first with a Yukon and now our Expy. Both RWD. Yukon sold...

    Lift gate

First time my button on the bottom of the tailgate stuck they replaced the button. Lasted 2 weeks. After researching here it seemed the real problem was the plastic housing. Dealer ordered that and another button to be sure and no problems for last 6 months. I also killed the foot activated...

towing with 2019 expedition max without max tow

We tow a 4300# wet 21' Escape TT. We tow in the mountains a lot which is primarily why I wanted HD Tow. A WDH is a must with the soft rear suspension. Had the same WDH with Yukon that didn't really need it to level squat, it just was smoother. With a Brake Controller you nees to set the gain...

    Consumer reports Expedition is trash?

Jeez- had a 2013 Yukon SLT that was like a Denali sans 6.2 motor. Pulled our TT good, and was very reliable over 107K when I traded for the 2019 Expy. Had some definite warts though: poor passenger foot room; harsh ride with live axle; crapo 3rd row(yanked 'em). So hopefully the smooth sailing...

towing with 2019 expedition max without max tow

Keep looking; feel like I dodged a bullet by passing on a non-HD tow for one that did. We tow 75% of the time with a 4300 lb. TT. Would be a dog without IMO.

    2022 Expy

Bought the 2919 Expedition after test driving the 2020 Explorer ST. Among other things it has a planted screen that looks like a big phablet vs. being integrated into the dash.

    10 Speed Transmission - Opinions

2019 XLT- love this tranny compared to 2013 Yukon 6-speed. One time when punching it to pass I got a nanosecond stall, yet the Yukon would always hang in a higher gear before downshifting. And the engine grade braking is awesome; I bet not too many know you can really slow down on cruise...

    Rotors at 23k miles?

Do 4th Gen Expeditions have phenolic brake caliper pistons? If so they can hang up and not fully retract after braking to cause rotor warp.

    New Tires - 2018 Platinum

Went to America's Tire(Discount Tire) and they told me it was too close. Funny thing was I had heard them do the same thing on a kid about to go to college. They even have a display showing when the nail/screw is too close. Two weeks later I had the same thing and they told me the same thing-...

    3.31 vs 3.73 gear ratio

Did not realize my Expedition SWB 4x2 would have been 3.15 had I not opted for HD Tow. My Yukon had 3.42; I would've been bummed! Was going that route over interior color option, then at last minute found one w/HD tow at another dealer for $500 more with black interior. We bought this...

Adding tow hooks to a 2WD

Hadn't seen this thread before starting and didn't get the Bumper Cover Spacer Panels until today. They go in from the outside then clip to top fins first. Fini!

    Lower Valance

Yep; like it better too; ripped mine off when adding tow hooks today.

Adding tow hooks to a 2WD

Got it done; the trick is to start at the top, push up with heavy flatblade on the tab then tap cover on outside with rubber mallet. The first one I started at the bottom and it was hell. Decided to start at top on the other and it came right off- didn't have to depress the side tabs at all.

Adding tow hooks to a 2WD

Much appreciated; pics really help. Will have another go at it- didn't want to break off tabs.

Adding tow hooks to a 2WD

Am having difficulty removing the tow hook panels. Seems they will push in once tabs are released? Any more tips on removing them?

    I miss my truck!

I keep reading all this stuff re Limited/ Platinum, etc. We tow a 21 Escape (4300 wet) 80-99% of the time. I almost did not get the HD tow on my XLT as I preferred Sand to Black for interior. What a mistake that would have been- even though by spec I didn't need HD. What I did want was the...

    3.73 limited slip differential

Like the less is more mantra. Tow an Escape 21 all moulded fiberglass trailer that weighs 4300 wet with lots of stuff. Get 13-14 on 87 going 65 mph.

Can we talk HD Tow one more time?

2019 XLT 4x2 has HD Tow no sunroof 202A 20" wheels bench middle row.

    Got some leaks

When the windshield is replaced I would want to be there watching. Had one done to a nice Camry wagon and 2 years later noticed rust at the leading edge of the roof. The idiot installer had cut into the metal with his knife when removing the gasket. They replaced the windshield yet the car had...

New Expedition Purchase - How much off MSRP?

Bought my 2019 XLT 8/27; was made 7/16. Has the 202A and HD Tow, NAV, Driver Asst pkg($9,625). MSRP: $63,150, minus $1,500 for TECH20 REGION DISCOUNT; negotiated down to $58,350. which is almost 5% on the nose. What made it go to $49,070 was the $9,280 in Ford rebates. That amount was only for...
