Vacuum tubing from manifold vacuum. Here is the schematic on my 2000 Expedition with the 5.4 liter.
On my 2000 the white plastic tube goes to the purge valve mounted on the driver side firewall as pictured here.
The red plastic tube runs to the fuel pressure regulator on the driver side...
I purchased a set of two glass liftgate supports and installed them this week for old blue. Purchased them through flea bay, $17.68 for the set. The shipping was free from LaSalle , Illinois. Easy to install other than the pin being a little tight to pass through the eyelet. They work fine...
Most difficult part of procedure was stretching across the bay to reach the back of engine. I used a step stool to stand on, but a topside creeper would have been the bomb.
I replaced the spark plugs and torqued them to 28ft lbs. Removed leaky aftermarket intake. Installed new OEM intake manifold and Felpro gaskets. Cleaned throttle body. Acquired missing fasteners from pull a part. No more coolant leaks and runs smooth.
Hey Machete, buy a plane ticket to Atlanta. Buy you a rust free 1st generation Expo truck here (They are plentiful) for 2 grand or less off Craigslist and drive it back to the great state of Illinois. Use your truck for a parts truck. Spent few months in Illinois, when I was a young pup, at...
Thanks Tom for the heads up. I am picking up a new intake Motorcraft Ford (2L1Z-9424-AA) OEM from Ford dealer, within a 45 minute drive from me, tomorrow. One of the few dealers who had it in stock. Got him to discount it from $285 to $225. Since no cost in shipping, it will be about same as...
My 2002 Expo, 250,000 miles, has a aftermarket intake manifold that was installed by previous owner that is leaking coolant on top of the engine valley and steaming out tailpipe. The major steam from the tailpipe ends once the engine warms up. I am going to replace with a new OEM intake manifold...
Seems like I have used 6 quarts before and 7 quarts other times as I recall. Can't remember exactly as I just fill to the full mark from the 5 quart jugs. The book calls for 6 quarts capacity for the 5.4 with filter on my 98, 00 and 02. I have used two different size oil filters over the years...
I pay anywhere from $28 to $35, depending on the oil brand, for the oil change special at Advance Auto Parts. I usually have a speed perks coupon which discounts it an additional $5 to $10. The special consist of a 5 quart jug of 5w30 high mileage synthetic oil and a filter. Return used oil...
Don't use the A/C much up there in the Great White North eh? Especially the rear. Years ago when I was stationed in North Dakota most vehicles sold there did not have A/C. Only needed it about 2 weeks a year. But they all had an electrical plug hanging out the grill to plug in the block heater...
My 98 Expy has a problem where it will be running at normal operating temperature, suddenly peg the temp gauge to hot and the service engine light comes on and there is a loss of power. If you turn the ignition off and wait a minute, the temp gauge will return to normal and it operates...

Cars are made so much better today. Course where you live (coastal or the rust belt) can make a huge difference in longevity. Telling my age, but domestic cars from the 70's decade, were the worst, in my opinion, even here in the South. 100,000 miles and most of that era were literally falling...
Especially with the huge numbers of Camrys sold not only domestically but worldwide. I have a 93 LE that's been in the family since new. It has just under 100,000 miles and is still a crème puff. The Toyotas were well represented though with four of the top six in vehicles that reach 300,000 miles.
Being on the 3/4 ton chassis it was the longest and heaviest SUV ever made. The turbodiesel was definitely a BEAST! Rumors of Ford bringing it back have not culminated in a new model yet.
I agree. I tried an LED from Superbright that I had. It was whiter but not as bright as the incandescent for some reason.
Thinking about using some colored ones.
How many of you have a running board light that lets moisture in? l have one that must have a hidden small crack somewhere. I decided to clean the dirt and algae out of it until I can replace it with one that does not leak. Here is the condition it is in.
First I had to remove the plastic...
I don't know for sure. Just thought it was interesting that both of them were listed. They do not say how they acquire their data and what parameters they use. They can skew any study to fit their objectives. Just look at political news polls today. Could be more expos are sold than navs or...
