    Passenger window bounce back.

I assume the electronics have not realized the window is fully closed when it reaches the end and is bouncing back as a safety measure (it thinks something is trapped between the frame and glass), but you probably worked that out yourself. I don’t know how you program or adjust the window...

    Bilstien shocks installed

Same here, fitted the shocks myself and my family all stated it rode much nicer than before, previous struts where original ford items with 150,000 miles so well past their best. Very happy with the ride of the Bilsteins. Gary

    Keep or trade up?

I have an 08 with 170,000 miles and it has needed 3 replacement parts in all those years, I plan to keep it till it dies (hopefully somewhere north of 250,000 miles), your is quite low mileage and if you haven't had any mechanical issues, I would save your money and keep it till it dies (as...

Spark Plug holes with antifreeze in them (leaking t-connector)

My 08 had the exact same failure but I couldn't find a T- piece of the correct size so ended up replacing the hoses and T-connector with the genuine ford part (cost ~$100) which was expensive for a leaking T-piece, but that was 4 years ago and never had an issue since!! Your repair looks well done.

    Strut Replacement Recommendations

I have an 08 EL expedition and changed the 4 struts for Bilstein 4600's. It took me about 2 hours to change all 4, the only special equipment needed was a coil spring compressor which O'riley let me rent for free. It was easy to change the shocks, I didn't have to undo any of the steering rods...

    Are bilsteins really worth it?

I have an 08 EL limited and it had done 142,000 miles when I decided to change the shocks. I ordered a set of Bilsteins (replaced all 4 shocks) based on feedback from this site. Immediately after changing them I went for a test drive with my wife and daughters and all 3 of them commented on how...

Easiest way to switch my 20” rims for 18” rims?

Just send them to me, my 2008 20” rims have seen better days, I will put them to good use!! On a serious note, i would suggest craigslist or Facebook-marketplace, that way you will only get local people that can come and take them. Gary

Dealer Recommends Transmission change at 44K. Is this a money grab?

I have changed mine every 40k miles, the transmission always seems to change a bit better after changing the transmission oil. My car does pull a large enclosed trailer occasionally, so far I have more than 180k miles and no transmission issues, I consider it cheap insurance!! I change the diff...

    What's this leaking hose?

had the same T joint leak on my 08, cost $100 for a new hose from ford, but really easy to change out, 2 quick connectors and a hose clamp on the third line.

    Dealer Fluid Service

I have had my dealers replace all fluids at 60k miles (I do a lot of towing and it seems cheap insurance to me) none of them have ever questioned it, I think your dealer needs to rethink his position, I would suggest finding another dealer, there are no known issues to me to changing fluids...

Power Fold mirrors -- how do they work?

As stated, you pull back on the switch to make them retract/fold-in and you pull back on the switch again to make them come out.. I also wish they automatically folded in when you locked the car, I use the feature every time I park the truck. Gary

Good example of bad load balancing...

TobyU, As you state, I suspect moving items around inside the trailer to reduce nose weight was an option, I suspect the whole rig weighted more than that car is rated to pull!! But also some kind of weight distribution hitch (plus moving items inside the trailer) was definitely in order, it...

    Weathertech mud flap protection

I have them on my expedition and like the look and fit, they definitely help keep the retracting step cleaner, but living in Texas I have not experienced any snow or Ice so no idea how well they hope with that, but they are definitely a lot better than not having any flaps (as supplied by Ford)...

The 5.4L 3-valve "mileage vs symptoms" thread!

2008 EL Limited 160,000 miles Plastic T hose leaked in coolant system, front disks warped, retracting step on drivers side died, driver window broke (steel cable broke), 4 new shocks at 140k miles, 3 batteries and 12 tyres. No other issues and no noises..

    Where does the oil go?

As stated, your engine is a bit worn and it is burning oil, what your losing is quite a small amount, so its unlikely you will see it as smoke, but it is burning it and you will find soot on the inside of your exhaust system. It really isn't doing much harm, the biggest risk is that it might...

    Transmission fluid change

I change my transmission fluid, transfer box fluid and differential fluids every 70K miles, its not a huge expense if you do it yourself and gives me peace of mind, I have over 180K miles on my expedition El (08) and it still runs great, changes gears great and has no leaks. It pulls a 24 foot...

Thinking about going from my 03 to a 2008/2009...

If I am honest, when I went from my 02 to my 08 I really didn't notice any change in the towing, I like the stronger transmission that comes with the 08 (more peace of mind) but really didn't notice a change in how it towed but did like all the extra gadgets that came with the 08. If you are...

2007 EL limited or 2013 King Ranch?

I would go for the 2007, it has another 150k miles or more in the engine and transmission, the 2013 probably only has 70k miles before it needs some major expense.. apart from the 2 piece spark plugs the 07 was a reliable expedition gary

    Driver's side window issue

I have had the window mechanism out of my expedition drivers door a couple of times (the steel cable rusted and broke) and I can't see anyway that it could cause the door to open or mess up opening the door. As you say maybe someone took it out before and re-installed it incorrectly. I don't...

    Hazard Lights

also the Ford remote start will flash the indicators, so if you have that feature fitted it could be dying (or water has got inside and messing it up) and causing the issue!! Gary

Replace seized engine or replace truck? NEWBIE NEEDS HALP

having owned a 98, expedition a 03, an 08 and a 2011 I would suggest going for the new truck, 65K miles is nothing, the engine and transmission improved significantly since 98 and it will be so much more reliable!! The 2011 doesn't have the dodgy spark plugs, etc.. As stated if you can get an...

Spare Tire Flat , Punctures In Sidwall

Fortunately I have never needed to use my spare, but I lower it every 3 months to check the tyre condition and pressure. Never had an issue and I know the lug spanner is the correct size as I have used it when rotating my tyres. Don't know what could have caused that damage to yours if it...

    Rear struts

Why not do it yourself? Autozone or O'riley (I cant remember which) lent me a strut spring compressor (costs nothing as they have a zero rental tool deal), I just needed a trolley jack to jack up the rear wheel, removed the rear wheel, unbolted the strut, compressed the spring and moved it over...

    High Mileage Considerations

As stated, if they have been looked after they are good, you want to make sure the engine oil has been replaced regularly, and at 150K it should have had at least one transmission flush (preferably two) and the transfer box oil should have been changed and the differential oil (front and rear if...

    2006 Expedition stereo issues

I don't know but is it possible there is a separate main amplifier maybe with an inline fuse, that popped when you reconnected the battery? I know there are a few inline fuses that can be hard to find? No idea if the 2006 had the amp in the head unit or separately.. Just something to consider...
