You could tighten that bolt further - but that might not be your issue. I think the torque is 35 ft/lbs, but that’s just going from memory. A likely culprit is the steering shaft itself. Ford wants something like $500 for a new one. I replaced mine with one from the Amazon for about $50. That...
I don’t think your service AdvanceTrac light is related to your no-start, per se; however, the light could be a symptom of the same problem that’s causing your no start, such as a smoked PCM. It could be a plethora of things.
Generally speaking, automatic starts won’t work either if there are...
I had this issue, and the solution is replacing the plastic gear that breaks, with one made of brass. Read this thread HERE. It’s about $100 for the gear, it took me about 20 minutes, and I’m confident I will never have that problem again.
OP good luck on your new quest! Wish I had something to offer, but unfortunately I don’t. I do, and I’m certain the eternity of the internet, appreciates you capturing your thorough troubleshooting and documenting it. I’m sure others in the future will be helped by your information.

There are several places to troubleshoot the cruise. I did a deep dive, meticulously troubleshot, and got mine working. It was about a year ago, but all the information I found on this forum.
Have you conducted the cruise control self-diagnostic test? The procedure is in the maintenance...
Damn that’s a lot of time, money and effort to not have solved the problem. At what point do you just toss the keys to the dealer and say don’t give it back to me until it’s right? Sorry it didn’t work out for you! Yet…
I’ve been rolling with the Dorman for about 15,000 miles. Everyone poo-poos Dorman, but when I was doing my engine swap, OEM was unobtainium.
I have not been unhappy so far with the Dorman.
I don’t have that vintage Expy; however, that exposed worm gear is normal. The carrier that travels along the worm gear comes from the top of the threads, or to put it differently, is mounted to the bottom of the seat track. If that gear was covered, there would be no way for your seats to move...
The general consensus is the juice ain’t worth the squeeze. I did put a re-man’d 5.4 2v in my ‘03 EB last summer, and the replacement engine supposedly addressed all of the known issues with that vintage 5.4 (timing chain guides, phasers, oil pump, etc).
DO IT! Throw the Volant air intake on there while you’re at it. They do include a 15% military discount as well - it’s like they’re paying you at that point.
PM me if you’ve got any questions. You won’t regret it!
If you’re getting a Check Engine Light, post what Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) you get. A OBD2 code reader is required for that. If you don’t have one, I’ve used Blue Driver for years and it works great. About $100 on the Amazon. Or take it to your local parts store, they should be able to...
The first e-fan installation was in 2000 with a Flex-a-Lite kit. At that time the fan controller was integral to the fan assembly. In ‘05 that fan controller failed. The only way to replace the controller was to replace the entire fan assembly. I ended up selling that truck and the next guy...
