    Radiator or transmission line?

I was just on amazon checking these out to see if I could find one with good reviews.

    Is it the radiator?

I might order the tool you suggested as a back up, just in case.

    Radiator or transmission line?

I know they say use the right tools for the right job, but they also say there is more than (1) way to skin a cat. Does anyone happen to know what size wrench I would need for the fan clutch? I would find this more cost effective to smack and shock the fan loose as opposed to paying for a fan...

    Is it the radiator?

@SafariGoneWrong , thank you for the feedback on this post. I accidentally had a double post and have already determined that I have a bad radiator and need to replace the whole thing. @whtbronco , thank you for the tool suggestion. I just picked up this tool from Autozone about (3) days ago...

    Radiator or transmission line?

I’ve looked at the Autozone prices and they are surprisingly pricey compared to other options, Amazon or even Rock Auto. I need to verify the correct radiator still. I have to pull the shroud off to make sure I get the number from there and compare it to the sticker on the side. If the Spectra...

    Radiator or transmission line?

I did not take age and into consideration for degradation of the materials. Or what the inside is like. Thank you @whtbronco for the input. I may just visit the junkyard to do a practice run on the disassembly.

    Radiator or transmission line?

1st, I apologize for the double post everyone. 2nd, I’m pretty sure it’s the radiator based on pictures I was able to take in the day time. And not an o-ring where the hard line goes in. Has anyone had luck with a junkyard pull? I know that for me it would be much quicker and cost effective...

    Radiator or transmission line?

I recently discovered that I have a leak at one of the radiator connections. If I’m not mistaken the area of the leak is from a transmission line connection. Would anyone be able to confirm this from the photos? And is this something where I need to replace the whole radiator, or is the...

    Is it the radiator?

I recently discovered that my radiator is leaking. Or I should say, I believe that it could be the radiator leaking. What I don’t know and have not been able to ascertain yet is if this leak is the radiator proper or possibly an o-ring. Does anyone know if this is an o-ring that can be replaced...

    Replacing a 5.4 3 valve with a 5.4 2 valve engine... what would I be getting into?

To piggyback off of @whtbronco, I would also make sure the cam phaser filters are changed when the timing job is done. This should be part of the timing job, but you want to make sure. When the filters get dirty there will be a notorious ‘ticking sound’ that comes from the front of the engine...

    No Power at all

Where in the engine bay did the click/pop sound come from? And do you see any scorch marks on your terminals at all? I agree with @whtbronco on checking the battery, any auto parts store can do it for you if you can’t do it at home. And then move to the wires. If the interior was soaked...

It seems the engineer could have made it easier

I replaced the original intake manifold on my ‘03 5.4 because of a coolant leak at the crossover tube. I had used the Dorman unit. The biggest problems with the Dorman unit is that there are no screw sleeves/inserts for any of the components except the bolts that tighten down the manifold...

    Building Battery Cables

Hey everyone. I’m in the process of determining everything I need to do a battery cable replacement on my ‘04 EB. I’m looking to eliminate the dimming effect that happens when multiple electrical systems are being used all at once. I do not want to do a Big 3 upgrade as I don’t want the extra...

HELP!!! DIY 100% 71 yr. old disabled Vet ,looking to replace brittle vacuum hoses. Ford discontinued hoses per dealer, advice what to do..

Not the best option but something else that could be done in a pinch (granted you have the materials) would be to heat shrink the old rubber. This would temporarily offer a protective barrier that will slow the separation of the degrading rubber. But if you have the time and means do what...

New to me 2004 Expedition maintenance?

Well then I retract my comment. Maybe I’m thinking of a different part on the underside of the 4WD.

New to me 2004 Expedition maintenance?

Like @smith627, I agree with @kep5niner on what to look at next. Replacing the transmission filter should definitely be towards the top. I replaced mine on my ‘04 about 2 years ago (19 years vehicle age) and found the yellow plug as well. It is easy to do on the 2WD models, I believe the 4x4s...

    E-fans and CAI 5.4 2v

The amount of workable space you gained cannot be understated. Oil filter change should be super easy now. I feel like the stock shroud always gets in the way. I think it’s a shame though that FF didn’t make the kit more bolt on ready. And to make each fan separate? It’s good that you got it to...

    Wiper Arm Alignment

Is the highlighted dot the factory alignment position for the blades? Might be easier to use that as opposed to measuring.

Grille Guard and Milage -- And other diminishing factors

Well I’m not sure what had temporarily contributed to such great gains. While it was a nice experience, I wouldn’t be concerned with anything as long as you are still within factory specs. Engine being tired at 102k, not likely, but that can’t be stated with 100% accuracy either. Best of luck to...

    E-fans and CAI 5.4 2v

I’m glad mentioning FF Dynamics has provided an option you feel is worth your time and money. I’m definitely curious to see how it turns out when you are done. Would you mind calculating the MPG gains to compare before and after?

Grille Guard and Milage -- And other diminishing factors

When you were getting 18+ on the highway do you know if environmental factors or physics were helping? Environmental for instance could have been a tail wind. Or physics could have been a draft effect off a vehicle in front of you. Getting 16 is closer to factory spec, and as long as you aren’t...

Grille Guard and Milage -- And other diminishing factors

@Lost_Penguin_Expy, have the tires been checked for proper pressure? Not necessarily the factory specs but the tires specs? If they are becoming deflated you’ll get more rolling resistance. Which can lead to a drop in MPGs.

    E-fans and CAI 5.4 2v

I only came across FF Dynamics when doing research nearly two years ago because I found out about the difficult radiator design for most kits. But I did not do any major research as I was and still am not ready to pull any triggers. Any information you get will be helpful for future decisions...

    E-fans and CAI 5.4 2v

@kep5niner , FF Dynamics has an electrical fan kit for the down flow radiators on the 03-04 Expedition. It’s something that I have been thinking about for the same reasons that you mentioned. But as @whtbronco stated, the mechanical fan is robust and reliable. So that’s been my hold up. I’ve...

    P0172/75 to P2196/98

Thanks for the advice on piecing together a new harness if needed in the future. It was quicker right now to go to the yard and find one. But I will keep that in mind if any future issues arise.
