Would you buy this '18 Limited Max?

The '20 would still be covered by the Ford Bumper to Bumper until 36K miles which would also give you a chance to get any little stuff taken care of under warranty before you decide if you want to extend the warranty with Ford. Seems like a better scenario especially since the engine hasn't...

    Who is running wheel spacers?

Couldn't agree more... Spacers are also tough on wheel bearings and Expy's have enough issues wtih wheels bearing failures with stock wheels.

Has anyone tried one of these vaults yet, on an Expy?

There are some cross members under the console that the metal plate goes under for the E&G vault, so it's more than just the thin plastic bottom of the console holding it in place. Someone would need to rip out the entire center console to get the safe out. Of course anything can be removed...

Sand driving - manual says 'avoid reducing tire pressures'

Depends on how fine/dry the sand is. When I drive in the Outer Banks of North Carolina I typically air down to 20 psi or so. The sand is very fine and there are deep ruts. If you're driving closer to the surf on hard packed wet sand, you may be fine without airing down.

    2022 Expy announced

To each his own. Lots of folks tune their Ecoboost engines.

    2022 Expy announced

Would be nice if the HO was available on the Platinum, but nothing a 5 star tune can't fix!

    2022 Expy announced

If it's like the Explorer, the 15" screen will be part of the Premium Technology Package on the high trim levels which also comes with the nicer stereo and multi-contour seats. Doubt it will be a stand alone choice which would make too much sense.

    2022 Expy announced

This version of the screen looks better in my opinion... Seems like a good mix of buttons for HVAC and the screen for other functions

    2022 Expy announced

I have mixed feelings... Pros: Blue Cruise, Digital Gauge cluster, Timberline trim, HO Ecoboost with 440 hp/510 ft lbs, HD touchscreens for RES (wonder if it's still made by Voxx) Cons: Front end design, all HVAC controls are via the touchscreen on the 15" display (should have left...

    Another Cam phaser question...

So if the PCM flash doesn't cause transmission issues, but still results in noisy cam phasers, then they won't replace the the cam phasers? Please forward a copy of the TSB or post it since I'd be interested in reading it.

    Drive Modes vs CCD Suspension

You are correct that 301A doesn't have CCD. The 302A package comes with CCD and the 22" wheels.

Pickup owners: do you prefer towing with Expy or pickup?

I've towed a 38' bumper pull travel trailer with our Powerstroke F350 a few times. I honestly can't imagine trying to tow it with our Expy. The truck has a longer wheel base and weighs 3000 lbs more than the Expy and still gets pushed around a bit by the trailer when it's windy.

Next week's post will be about leaking rear shocks ;)

    2018!Failed right front wheel bearing

Here's the thread that Artie mentioned. https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/bad-wheel-bearing-at-only-30k-miles.48649/

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

On versions with the low range transfer case (HD tow), the choices are 2H, 4A, and 4L. The last button around the transfer case choices is the rear locker button. No specific button for 4H.

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

The prior response from ManUporShutUp was based on your statement that you "actually run mine in 4H 24/7". I assume this was a typo and you meant to say 4A instead of 4H. If you ran it in 4H on dry roads it would definitely cause damage to your driveline. 4A is not an issue as you've mentioned.

Comparing my XLT vs Limited Builds - worth going to Limited?

You won't regret the LED headlights! The CCD suspension is a nice feature as well. Congrats on the new ride!

Does Anybody Here Worry About Rust?

My 2020 Super Duty had the same issues with rust on the axles and drive shafts. The axles and drive shafts must sit outside in the weather before assembly have don't have much paint on them to start. As such, they are rusty when the trucks leave the Kentucky Truck plant. I painted my axles...

Does Anybody Here Worry About Rust?

I'm off this weekend to have my 2018 coated a 2nd time by Corrosion Free (had it done a year ago). They spray fancy vegetable oil on the chassis, inside the frame boxed frame rails, in the door cavities, etc. Seems to work pretty well from what I can tell since dust sticks to it and it creates...

    Anyone experienced transfer case issues?

If you run in 4 Auto, does it make any similar noises? If it's still noisy in 4 Auto, it may be your hubs acting up since the transfer case only engages when it detects wheel slip on the front axle when in 4 Auto. If it's quiet in 4 Auto, it would likely be the transfer case that you're...

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

I run mine in 4 auto periodically to get the front driveline spinning and the front hubs locked in. The transfer case rarely engages since I'm on dry roads, and no slippage is detected, but the oil in the front diff should be sloshing around. Any grease in the wheel bearings would be separate...

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

The tech went for a ride along with me and then was able to confirm when he used a stethoscope on the wheel hubs with the vehicle on a lift. Hopefully you find a dealer/tech that is willing to figure it out for you.

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

Vibration in the accelerator pedal was minor and felt like it does when 4 high is engaged. Glad it’s fixed now and I’ll know what to watch for if the other side acts up.

Bad wheel bearing at only 30k miles!

Have been chasing a growling noise in my 2018 Expy which seemed to be driveline related. Had it to one dealer that couldn't diagnose and said everything was normal. I persisted since I knew it wasn't right and took it to a 2nd dealer that quickly diagnosed a bad driver's side front wheel...

Power lift gate with kick assist on 2021 XLT

The novelty just isn't worth the risk to me of the tailgate damage that would be caused by randomly opening into my garage door or my trailer tongue jack, etc. I have disconnected my antenna to avoid any issues.
