Cam phaser?
I have a 5.4L 2V with 245,000miles. Recently I noticed a mild ticking sound at hot idle. Seems to run fine. I have seen a lot of interwebz chatter about cam phaser locking pin failure in 3V engines. Did the 2V suffer this also? 10w30 motor oil did not solve the issue.- briangelc

Hypertech max energy power programmer
Does anybody in the forum have actual experience with hypertech off-the-shelf tune for the 5.4 L? They are claiming substantial power gains if you $witch to 93 octane gas. + 27 hp/+66 tq presumably at flywheelwheel, even though their own dyno chart reports +12 hp/ +40 tq at wheels with Premium...- briangelc

spark plug shot out of motor
if you dont have anything better to do, check the torque on your spark plugs every 10,000 miles. one in my engine shot out without warning. apparently it is somewhat common in Ford V-8's including the 5.4L and 4.6L.It can be very costly to fix because it ruins the threads in the head. they...- briangelc

drive without front driveshaft?
can the front ds be removed from a 4x4, and then drive the truck like a RWD? Would that cause damage to any of the other driveline components. will it stress out the transfer case?- briangelc
