    ^Bump^ I took truck back to the shop and tech claims I have a valve train issue not timing chain related. I had the same noise from a old 4.6 I had when chain tensioners failed, I kinda think he just doesn't want to mess with it again. Not recommending him to anyone.

    It's a different noise than I had before repair work, but with everything that was replaced its a little baffling. I did change to Motorcraft oil/filter and still doing it. I think it's going back to shop. Thanks for the feedback.

    Just had timing chains, phasers, tensioners, oil pump, VCT solenoids, and coils replaced on my 2006 Expy about 6 weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago it started rattling on start up. Sounds like tensioners may be bleeding pressure off. I'm using Motorcraft 5W-20 oil and filter. I can't think of...

    04 Ford Expedition 4.6L rattle / knock

    I think mine is rattling too. I just had cam phasers/chains/tensioners replaced. I hope that's what it is. If the converter has broken stuff inside would that make the exhaust sound like an engine miss?

    I installed the solenoid on that bank and still runs rough once engine warms up and code came back on. I didn't know there was a kit to disable them.

    Thanks for the info. If VCT was unplugged would that disable the variable system and allow engine to function normally?

    I just had the P0022 code and had the VCT Solenoid replaced accordingly. The truck still has the same problem with shudder and rattling it had before. It only seems to show up when engine is warmed up and mainly in reverse more than in drive. CEL came back on with same code, would unplugging...

    My 2006 Expy EB does that too, I just noticed it today in some mud. It switches to A4WD, but not 4H or 4L, even in neutral.

    I just had 8 new Accels installed on my '06. Not enough miles to know much about them, but the mechanic said they were better than stock units.

    06 Expedition Spark Plugs

    I just got mine done today at 91,000 miles and it was $650 not counting the new accel coils. It was hard to find a shop around here that would do it other than the stealership. Stupid design
