Absolutely correct, you can waste a boat load of money and a lot of time throwing parts at a problem, always better to at least try to diagnose the problem first. BTW, back years ago when I worked at a transmission shop I learned that one way to tell if the shudder was engine or trans is to hook...
A good shot of WD 40 in the lock cylinder would be a first step, that part is just a manual function with no electronics. The electrical part however can be a lot more interesting. Just because there seems to be multiple problems in the driver's door there is a possibility that you have a broken...
One other thing I just thought of, is it a dead miss? As in no change when the injector wire is removed? There are cases where the rocker arm has come off and the valve isn't even opening.
It seems like you have tried doing some of what I would recommend but I'll go through my list. Try exchanging the spark plug with another one that is working properly, it no joy then do the same with a coil, always use a part that has just been working so that you can be sure that it is as good...
While I haven't worked on a '23 model I have turned wrenches for 40 years so I do have a suggestion. Any time I see an intermittent in the electrical parts of the drivers door the first thing I think of is a broken wire in the loom between the door post and the door itself. The next time the...
Along with the above info, the easiest way I find to see if you have a tow package is to look for a small aux. cooler in front of the radiator that has factory looking hoses not clamp on aftermarket type.
I can't quote a firm number to the weight limit for your camper/tow vehicle but consider that the spec is weight only and doesn't take into account wind resistance (and for my money hills also). I was 2k lbs under max and mileage was down from 18 - 19 to 8mpg and I could really tell it when I...
Guys, I have an '07 3rd gen Expy but in all likelyhood the fill procedure is the same as mine. The fill and check port is at the front right of the trans right where the old long dipsticks used to be. You unscrew the top with a 3/4" wrench and pull out the little dipstick so you can check to...
As to your original question, no shocks/struts aren't going to cause a shudder. They can cause tire cupping which might be more noticeable during brakeing though.
Iif the front rotors are at fault you will likely feel the vibration in the steering wheel but sometimes a vibration/shudder can be hard to trace without pulling the wheels and checking the rotor runout. Also, look for areas on the rotor that look different in color, something could have gotten...
I was just going to add an idea of how to determine if the shudder was in the engine or the trans: take a vacuum gaugue with a small diameter hose attached to manifold vacuum and drive the car. If the vacuum reading changes when the shudder happens then the problem is in the engine, If it...
The most common answer in the shop is "they did it because they can". There is no logical reason for some of the things that are done (at least not to mortal men).
When we got our new (to us anyway) tt I watched the tech at the dealer when he set up the hitch and after he got through he backed up about 30 foot and just looked at the setup. He told me that what we were looking for was for the whole rig, truck and trailer to be level without either one being...
It would be a good idea to get a cheap test light at harbor freight (about $4) to see if there is voltage at the compressor wire plug. If you have juice at the compressor check the air gap between the two clutch plates, if it's too large the magnet can't engage the compressor.
Just as an FYI, a 50 watt one ohm resistor will produce the exact same amount of heat as a one watt one ohm resistor if put in the same circuit. The wattage rating is the amount of current flow (heat) the piece can withstand not how much it produces.
As mentioned an odd size tissue box goes in the slot, unfortunately those tissue boxes only be found sold in case quantity. Fortunately I bought a case and would sell as many as you want for $2 each w/freight. PM me if interested.
It was already said but I will say it again, when you change the atf first be sure to use the correct fluid (not necessarily ford brand) not a cheaper fluid with an additive.
Another thing that might help your 'is it the transmission or is it the engine' question is to hook up a vacuum guage to...
Have any of the repairs made any improvement in the a/c cooling or the engine overheating? Also is the engine loosing any Coolant? Since you mentioned the radiator try this to give it a rough test, check with the engine properly hot so be careful not to get burned, shut the engine off and reach...
Humor aside, it sounds like a broken wire / loose connection type of a thing. First look around under the dash to see if there is any evidence of someone doing any wiring work, then pay attention to any symptoms that come together. One that might happen is the door ajar light and the rear door...
I heard of one guy that hooked his battery up backwards and got some unusual results. Said that the radio started listening, the headlights would cast shadows and the horn sucked instead of blowed! ;-)
