    It would be a good idea to get a cheap test light at harbor freight (about $4) to see if there is voltage at the compressor wire plug. If you have juice at the compressor check the air gap between the two clutch plates, if it's too large the magnet can't engage the compressor.

    Just as an FYI, a 50 watt one ohm resistor will produce the exact same amount of heat as a one watt one ohm resistor if put in the same circuit. The wattage rating is the amount of current flow (heat) the piece can withstand not how much it produces.
