Is having Cam phasers replaced by Ford just under 100k miles and the timing chain and tensioners replaced high on the list of maintaining longevity and reliability?
2018 Max I saw now has ~120k on it with that work
That is comforting to hear that there are reliable ones being reported. Kind of like most other things, you only hear the negativity about things. I have read mostly about coolant leaks and the carbon build up on valves.
I absolutely will post up once purchased.
I was planning on getting a Carfax once I narrow down something serious.
Unfortunately, the mechanic thing might be hard if I find one out of state.
I have read through several threads about possible problems but wanted to post my own question. I have been very hesitant to consider an EL (or Max) equipped with the 3.5 EB. I previously had a 2011 Expedition with the 5.4 and really did like it. The engine did not give me any problems and...
Yeah the wife really wants to stay with the 5.4 for that sound so a '13 or '14. I had a MagnaFlow muffler on it my 2011. It did sound good but I also know it cons based off Fordtechmakuloco videos. May go with a base '15-'17 & just upgrade to Android auto. Really I just need reliability & space...
Okay well I guess I follow-up question to that would be, do you have any idea how much it would cost for the intake cleaning while doing a timing chain? I asked this because I just recently watched
FordTechMakuloco video comparing a first Gen to a second Gen Ecoboost and the differences were...
I sold my 2011 expedition XLT last year and have been wanting to get an EL because of our family size for trips. I was only wanting to get a 2014 or 2013 because of the 5.4 Triton but have considered the 2015 through 2017 3.5 eco boost.
My question is, is the eco boost in the 15-17 the 2nd...
Well damn.
I have no idea what the cost would be on that. Any suggestions? Would I be having the rear differential completely rebuilt or find used/aftermarket? Rebuilt clutch pack?Etc
According to the driver door sticker I have the 3.15 (15)
I do mostly kid hauling & interstate. Would I loose...
2011 XLT, Truck has 155k on it. I drained & filled the rear differential at 95k, when I bought it. I just did this drain & fill again yesterday. Upon removing the FILL plug I found this piece of metal stuck to the magnet. When I pulled the DRAIN plug there was the usual very fine metallic on the...
Reviving an older thread. I was just asking on here yesterday about this tuner. What has been your ~year of experience ? Better fuel mileage? Still shifting smooth? Etc
BTW 2011 XLT 2wd here
Gotcha. Thanks for the quick responses. We have a '10 Armada that I'll prob just tune with Uprev then. That thing already takes off way harder than my Expy. A lot better low end grunt
Well had it towed to my mechanic & the Master was bad. It was leaking into the booster which destroyed it. So now, $600 later I have a new master & booster as well as obviously new brake fluid/system bled. Pick it up today & will see how she stops now. Oh, truck has 155k on it. Hoping to make...
We have a "10 Armada with 130k which are from the factory with undersized brakes right out of the gate. I put those on it last summer & it was a pretty significant upgrade. Definitely slows that beast down like it should have had from the factory. Good to go in my opinion
My 2 cents. I have an '11 XLT 2wd 150k that's mainly a kid hauler & has seen quite a few road trips. I was seeing 15mpg pretty regular. I did all the "not sure what the preious owner did" maintance when I bought it at 90k. At 130k I changed the spark plugs. No change in my driving style but now...
Wife drove my 2011 XLT to work. She ran some errands etc during the day. Then she calls as she was a out to leave work. She states the brake pedal is going all the way to the floor before taking it out of park. I go up there, fluid is pretty low, below the min line. I have a bottle of Valvoline...
Has anyone done this to their Expy? I have a 2011 XLT & will prob be doing a new accessory drive belt along with cat back exhaust soon. Figured while I have the belt off it be a good time to switch out..
I've owned the truck since ~96k & have done the usual oil/filter, transmission drain/fill, rear differential drain/fill.. I had been hesitant on doing the spark plugs bc of all of the hoor stories on breaking them (even tho I believe mine had the news style)
Anyway, ordered new plugs & coil...
I did finally replace this part. The one that goes behind the radio. Well, I don't have anymore clicking noise but still have no AC on the driver's side now. Any advice on how to proceed?
I have an '11 XLT that I'm considering putting just a flowmaster muffler on. I have measured as best I could (with string measure around then divide that length by 3.14) What I came up with was 2.71" inlet & 2.6" on the exit.
Can anyone advise as to what size I need to look at buying. I'm also...
