Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it ill have to tackle this. When I have more time and money. So I assume my 13 mpg is standard then? What is the cheapest route to get a cat? And what are the most common oil leaks on the 4.6?- 04ebexpy

Thanks, I may have an extra coil laying around I may try or I may just switch coils and see if the misfire follows. Yea the cats aren't cheap. My question is will it cause long term harm not to replace it as well is it what's causing my low gas mileage.- 04ebexpy

I don’t have a temp gauge but I do have an obd reader and the torque app it registers fuel trims I just have to figure out how to read them- 04ebexpy

Yea it’s a two wheel drive and ok what is the best method to have my trims checked? All the normal simple stuff I’m fairly certain I’ve covered so it’s got me more than a bit confused.- 04ebexpy

Wife gets similar gas mileage so while it may be driving I’m kinda doubting it. I’ll have to look into the fuel filter I don’t remember. i have an 04 with the 4.6 203k recent oil change new plugs and coils properly gapped no codes new air filter. It has been seafoamed like an induction treatment and I cut the muffler out because of a broken loose baffle and my gas mileage has improved since to between 10-11mpg. No codes Any one...- 04ebexpy

Cut out the muffler and either it’s fixed or it’s so loud I can’t hear it unfortunately the dang hangers are in the way so I can’t put my new muffler on so the solution is in the planning stage while I run around straight piped. Put some cheap tires on the expedition and had the shop take a look see for my rattle they agreed with me that something is broken loose in the muffler so exhaust mods are imminent nothing special just a turbo muffler dumping under the body. I read it could be one of my cats maybe? No sulfur smell but did get a p0420 code the other day out of nowhere. Hasn't come back since I cleared it though. Bought a turbo muffler for cheap online I'm just going to cut the exhaust prior to the muffler and add that to elimate the muffler as my issue. Then I'd be stumped. Hopefully I get better mileage at that point because 10.5-11.5 kinda sucks.- 04ebexpy

Was finally able to work on it today. Didn't find any heat shields loose. All my hangers for the exhaust are intact everything seems where it needs to be and tight. The only think I can think of is the muffler looks like it may have a dent in it and my differential where the driveshaft enters...- 04ebexpy

Pasco County. Sounds like a good plan once I have some time. I think honestly the most frustrating part and the reason I wasn't quick to blame the exhaust is the weirdness of how specific the conditions for the rattle are.- 04ebexpy

The codes are clear I ran and cleared them after new coils and plugs all it had was a cylinder 6 miss that was resolved no codes since. I will check the EGR. Thank you I appreacite the offer although the travel doesnt exactly concern me more so whether the gas pedal is alwasy closer than the brake or not. Also how to manually adjust and use the pedal adjust since the power adjust gear is broken.- 04ebexpy
