Help Identify - Ford 5.4L Transmission Area Metallic Noise (sounds like sheet metal against a fan)
Thanks everyone, for your thoughts. After having 3 shops look at it, the rural transmission shop finally figured it out. It was the Starter! Maine rust kills stuff, and it was apparently victim to it. Apparently the return spring was weakened, so the pinion/bendix was touching the flexplate...- um1990

Help Identify - Ford 5.4L Transmission Area Metallic Noise (sounds like sheet metal against a fan)
Can anyone help me identify this odd sound from bell housing area of 2008 5.4L Ford (Expedition) ? Transmission seems fine, pulls heavy trailers fine, no stutters, etc. This sound started a month or so ago. Does not appear to be heat shields or catalytic converters (first thing checked) Had...- um1990
