Gen 4 and electronics in 2014 Expedition Limited.

Is the 2014 model Expedition going to need some kind of 4G dealer update? I don't even have my cell phone synched but I am worried that the remote key fob might not lock or unlock it, and maybe the dash features won't yield the performance info, (fuel, battery, oil levels) that I rely upon. I...

My Expedition came with Platinum Price and Pinto Quality

You could try starting at the top of the corporation and only deal with a live person. My mom did that with a bad RCA TV one time. She called the RCA president, David Sarnoff (sp?) person to person in New York, got him and stated her case. When he tried getting smart with her, saying he didn't...

My Expedition came with Platinum Price and Pinto Quality

Have you tried speaking directly to the corporate offices? I usually got whatever I needed by doing that. I didn't know anyone of importance, but I don't mind going to the press. One time, there was a recall on General tires (including mine) and we were scheduled to take a 5-hour interstate road...

    Key Fob

Every time it happened to mine, 2000, 2007 and 2014, the only real fix was a new key fob. I got mine from a locksmith, not from the Ford dealer which may be why I never had to replace the new fobs. Cheaper, too.

Would an 07 be a smart purchase?

Hard to tell. We bought our 2007 Expy Eddie Bauer 2WD from a dealer in 2010 with 23,000 miles, as a leased turn-in. Compared to our 2000 Expy Eddie Bauer 2wd, the 2007 was a dream, not a nightmare. (The 2,000 ate at the dinner table with us). On the 2007, we did all the routine maintenances on...

Deepest snow you drove through for some distance

We took our 2000 2WD Eddie Bauer Expy through a foot deep snow, with chains, the week of Thanksgiving going Wright Patterson AFB (Dayton, OH), around 2005. We were the last vehicle allowed on the Interstate, but, the State Troopers let us drive through because we kept moving right through it...

Replacing taillight lens and not the whole assembly?

Try EBay or a salvage yard. We replaced both whole headlamp assemblies on my husband's F150 from a salvage yard for $20. Ford kept the tail light covers unchanged from 2007 to I think 2017. When I bought my 2014 Expy Limited last October, I replaced the driver side tail light cover with a new...

    aftermarket key fob

Have been buying my replacement key fobs from a local locksmith for years when my husband lost a set and then my fob wore out once. A year ago, someone stole my ignition key and fob to the 2007 Expy. That time, I had an extra key at home and just had to replace the fob and reprogram both fobs...

Should I change my transmission fluid?

I have always had mine changed every 18-20 months since most of my driving is local. My most recent Expedition had 63,000 miles on it when I bought it. Since I did not know how those 63,000 miles were accrued, I had the garage change the transmission filter and fluid and the oil and oil filter...

    Expensive Sunroof Repair

When I went shopping last November for the third Expedition in 20 years, my husband had passed away, so I picked my mechanic's brain on what features to avoid. That garage had repaired our Expeditions for over 15 years. I knew the sun roof was to be avoided. He also warned me that the electric...

2019 less than 11000 miles and 3 out of 4 shocks leaking?

I'd call the factory. Used to be in Dearborn, MI. Have had really decent results doing that over the years. (We had Fords since 1983. Dearborn seemed to like that info- just sayin....) Maybe there's a recall on them? Or maybe there should be! That being said, I am also on our 3rd Expedition in...

    battery drained in 3 days

We had a 2000 EXPD 2WD Eddie Bauer which in 2008 or so, developed a leak in the windshield glue on the driver's side. This defect affected some big (pricey) module under the dash on the driver's side. Fans would run unbidden, with the SUV locked and engine off. (I called it Gremlins and we...

Dealer wants to buy my Expedition back from me

Good plan! I quit using our dealer for repairs in the early 2000's when every blessed time we brought in our 2000 Eddie Bauer Exp. for one thing, they broke something else in the process. And that's with the GSM living next door to us! We have used the same outside garage for over 15 years. I...

    10 Speed Transmission - Opinions

My mechanic of the last 15 years or so, warned me against the late model Expedition engines. I am content with the 2014 V8, and it's something much easier repaired if needed. I keep my Expeditions (and other Fords in the past) 10 years and more. Have yet to need an extended warranty, out of the...

    Parking Sensors

I chickened out and just hit the reset. That does work, and doesn't reset trip miles or anything else in the process-so far!

    Replaced Tires.. Game changer..

I am on my 3rd Expedition. We bought a 2000 Eddie Bauer in 2000, sold at 160,000 miles in 2010 when we bought a 2007 Eddie Bauer. Bought a 2014 Exp. Limited a month ago and sold the 2007 at 159,000 miles. We put Michelins on my '83 Mustang and loved it, on our 1993 Sedan de Ville and loved the...

    Parking Sensors

Just bought a 2014 Limited a month ago and this week, its sensor is screeching. If there is a separate fuse for that, (probably too much to hope for), I'd be happy to pull it.
