    clicking/clunking in AWD

approx 200k, all original, so i am sure something is due for replacement. the noise has been there for the last 50k tho, hasnt changed much and i dont use 4A (awd) much more than a few times a year so it hasnt been a priority to assess.

    clicking/clunking in AWD

noise is notice able driving straight, doesnt change with turning, so i doubt my CV's are to blame. and i have not checked to see if it makes the same noise in 4 hi or 4 lo, I am only referring to 4A (awd) also doesnt matter if it is dry or ice or snow, sound is still there

    clicking/clunking in AWD

there is a click/clunk noise coming from the front, only when AWD is on. Goes away in 2wd, so i know it is either differential, driveline or CV joint related. It is most noticeable when decelerating, but there is a faint click when cruising or accelerating as well. Frequency seems to be...

random "parking brake engaged" warning (FIXED- 10 cent part)

So the expy doesnt get driven much anymore other than towing boat/camper. About a year ago i noticed the headlights on while it was sitting in the driveway, switch was on auto, but it was daytime, car was off/locked. Opened the door and turned it to off and lights shut off. I didnt think...

auto lights staying on and random parking brake

So our expedition doesnt get driven much anymore, mainly for family trips, or hauling boat or trailer. So it will go from 1k mile trips, pulling boat 50 miles and sitting for 2-3 weeks. A while back (6 months or so) i noticed the lights on randomly. The headlight switch was on auto. turning...

    2014 Limited 5.4 3 V Plugs question

2007-2008 was the end of the breaking plugs... easy to check, new plugs have COP with brown boots, old had black boots.

    gutless towing?

minor update... should have caught this sooner but since the expy is only driven on long trips and summer boat towing, it hasnt been driven much. Just went on a 600mi (roundtrip) hwy trip... averaged 15mpg!!!, obviously cold weather plays a role, but i knew something was off, also noticed...

    gutless towing?

yeah, i was worried about that on the hill, its a couple mile stretch at grade, so i kept an eye on temp, i was surprised there was no change.

    gutless towing?

oh i totally understand that... it just feels like the high rpms (4.5-5k) have same power as at 3k. downshift wouldnt bother me if it felt like it was making power.

    gutless towing?

yes, 3 years ago when we first got the trailer, got 10mpg on a 300mi trip, mostly flat highway, towing without a an equalizer, so the ass end was overloaded for sure. then the next two years, same trip, got 8mpg, and then almost 6-7mpg. wind was not a factor. i do question the cat, as it...

    gutless towing?

2008 expy. I recently updated all timing components, rollers and cams included. Melling 360hv oil pump as well. On regular trips, fuel economy and power seem back where they were before, but towing a travel trailer or boat, the top end seems lacking. On flat highway, it feels like it pulls...

Proper fuel pressure specs? 08 5.4L

measured mine, idle is it 70PSI, lowest it dropped while driving is 65PSI ... i am assuming that is normal

Proper fuel pressure specs? 08 5.4L

following... ive read 55-60PSI im having power issues while under heavy load (trailer up steep grade) and also lower than expected economy issues, even after installing new timing set. There was an improvement, especially when not towing, but it still is not what is was 50k miles ago. I...

2014 Expedition EL transmission fluid change

transfer pump is a good idea... i did it the messy way, only spilled a little. put the pan up empty, no point in trying to balance and risk wasting new fluid no priming needed. you just gotta get it up to temp, flip thru drive, park, reverse etc (stationary) before you measure fluid level...

timing job, tq. specs? 5.4 3v

put a couple thousand miles on it this last week.... i was dissapointed at first, only got 14-15.5 on the interstate....BUT, i was going just over 85, and had a decent head wind. on the way back, going about 75, no wind, got around 18 mpg also noticed on hills, at most it would down shift 1...

What tuner would you recommend for improved fuel economy - 2013 Expedition

i have actually gotten best mileage 18+mpg driving in the mountains. the coasting really helps boost since it cuts fuel off. and the lower speed saves as well.

    Water pump?

hmmm, sounds like the 5.4 is still better.

VCT Selenoids or timing issue ?

IMO, having done one now, the pump is cheap, no reason not to change it... but at a minimum, if you want to be cheap, take the plate off the pump and clean out the pressure channel. gunk builds up and can cause suction to fail/reduce, which directly affects pressure.
