I massively upgraded my Excursion brakes because the factory setup was so bad, plus I oversized rotating load (325/65R18 BFG KO2s). Never stopped like a sedan, but was better than the freight engine it started out as. Expedition stops pretty close to what I think a sedan would, which is impressive!
Maybe you didn’t search for an answer? Lots of us have given our feedback and experiences with exactly this.

Thanks for the replies, and 2 points. Not really feeling like buying a cheap (slow) compressor when I can just take it easy to drive responsibly into a station. Sounds like a short drive at around 40 mph should be easy enough. I’ll post back with recap in a week or 2.
Sorry to revive an old one. Wondering about sand driving since we are headed to Oregon next week where I can go out on the beach. It will be the first time in the Timberline, last time was in my Excursion. If I air down to 20 to get through some of the soft stuff, how long on the road is ok to...
Short update:
Just put on 1600+ miles in a weekend roadtrip and these tires did great! Low road noise and stable handling even when getting up to ~90mph. Loving the KO3s!
Turns out it’s a leaky evaporator core, needs to be replaced. Taking way too long now with warmer weather starting, we are boiling. Anyone have some positive way to get Ford to help me out with the terrible service departments, or am I just stuck dealing with them on my own and need to just keep...
Just hit 22k miles and noticed (on the first warmer day we have had) that ac wasn’t cold. Evaporator core is supposedly bad or leaking so will be Expeditionless for up to 4 days. Any recommendations on how to maintain and avoid these issues in the future, or is it just lower quality parts being...
We have loved our KO3 295/70R18 through the season. Handled snow ice and slush through multiple Tahoe passes plus decent rain around Santa Cruz past couple months. Even did some snowy fire roads in Nevada without issue plus ~3000 highway miles roadtripping. Never any hesitation with any condition!
Sorry to miss getting back to you in time, but here is my reply anyhow.
My tires are amazing! We are on a roadtrip through Tahoe area right now and all conditions have been handled better than ever. Serious snow, ice, slush, and packed mix haven’t been any concern. Steep gravel driveway and...
I put similar pods all over the engine bay, and we still smell them inside the cabin, but maybe more angles are needed? Great note on the interior sensor…I really hope it isn’t that though . The kids do leave many crumbs…
Strange question, but I’m wondering if anyone else has rodent issues? Our MachE wiring was nibbled on so we took precautions with both vehicles to prevent nesting and such. However, we might need to be more vigilant since the Expedition alarm started going off in the middle of the night the last...
I keep hearing “I will never buy another Ford” but usually for non-vehicle type concerns. It’s either service issues (which I find valid) or tech/software things. Just remember, most other companies that do the software/tech things really well do the vehicle things pretty terribly. I also...
Sounds like auto hold or hill start assist is fighting you. Happens to us on our long country driveway too depending on the angle we hit on the way out of the parking corner. Not sure if this is a setting on yours and haven’t looked through our sync4a in awhile, but I would look for those 2...
Without reading your post and only seeing the title, my first thought was “change the ‘?’ to a ‘!’ and that’s an accurate statement.” After reading your post, my thought is “change the ‘?’ to a ‘!!!’ and that’s an accurate statement.” Total scam. If you didn’t sign a work order for that work to...
I have a ‘22 Timberline Covid-car with removed features. All of the cameras and sensors still work great for parking help so sounds like you will be happy enough with that. Active park is just to have hands off park, right?
While I sometimes miss the “kick to open” option, I think it becomes...
I have had BFG KO2s on 2 capable off-roaders that only saw real conditions a few times a year; 1992 Bronco and 2002 Excursion. The Excursion also towed some and did many highway miles. The Bronco towed only a couple times and few highway miles. The tires allowed both vehicles to be capable when...
295/70R18
I was on the fence about 305s and ultimately didn’t want the F rate ply count to roughen the ride. With this setup, I’m certain the bigger size would fit, maybe only a small fold needed here or there.
I don’t give much attention to MPG any longer, but it has certainly decreased at least some. I gave up paying attention all the years we had a lifted Excursion. The rotating mass difference alone (40# vs 65#) is significant. I spend most of my around towning in sport mode and freeway jumps in...
