I want to install amber fog lights on my 2002, for like, actual fog days. I have bought some lights.
Is there a wiring diagram for the existing connectors?
Where can they be found more or less?
How are they turned on/off: Is there also an optional fog light switch, or do they act like running...
I did the same for the trunk dome light.
I have not figured out how to pull out the teardrop 2nd row vanity lights. They look very fragile when I pull, and clamped hard to the roof. Help on that would be welcome.
Last vanity modification planned: replace the CD changer with another cigarette...
I popped the center dome (remove one screw in the glasses compartment, and gently pull down), spliced some wires and installed an LED harness and clipped in the LEDs. When you look at the harness there's one black wire coming to the lights directly from the wire connector, the others come from...
That's good to hear. He seemed to indicate it was fixed later - around 2005 -.
I find it's super important to know the quirks of an older vehicle you own to not end up in purgatory.
A friend told me spark plugs like to blow in 5.4L engines around 180K because there's like 3 turns of threads to hold them.
He then recommended to helicoil them before they blow, as it is a solid fix, and when they blow they take some of the metal with them so a helicoil fix becomes more iffy...
I can't program new remotes to my 2002 Ford Expedition. I tried to program in a friend's Eddie Bauer remote and it failed too.
Hence I suspect it's the car's receiver or something. I don't know where to find reference material to understand how stuff works for the Ford.
I came across this...
Motorcraft Cruise Control Cutout Brake Switch Repair Kit SW6350 1L1Z9F924AA
So yeah it's related to the cruise control failures!
Replacing the cruise control break switch
Can someone ID this sensor so I can look for the part and get a new one?
Also do you know how to remove it without breaking anything, and will the break fluid spill out?
I am trying to troubleshoot my cruise control not engaging.
In some post, someone mentioned this 2A fuse as being a...
Interior lights diagram...
Running board can be disabled by fuse 15. They're not really useful.
Lights are controlled by GEM which controls 2 relays.
There are relays, and the diagram shows a main light switch that cuts the ground on the interior lamp relay...
I just swapped the premium speakers with infinity kappa perfect 6.5 and wow it slaps :) Goes down to 35Hz. It doesn't have the kick of a dedicated sub, but it's enough I need to find what in the door resonates at 50-60hz when I crank the volume.
Oh thank you about the cruise control and rust. :)
For the rust I was thinking wire brush, rust stop and maybe tooldip as a temporary layer instead of repaint. Also I'm thinking of getting 2 more roof rack rails for when I put heavier or weirder loads on the roof.
The wire harness looks fine...
If you're handy maybe you can re-upholster your seats with leather yourself: They sell the covers on eBay (leather, pleather or vinyl options). Looking at the Katzkin they want my info to send me a quote, that screams $$$.
I was gonna put a battery disconnect anyways :) But I'd love to control that somehow. Maybe I can tap a switch near the fuse box.
Are there schematics online for the Expedition like there is for the other cars I have? A helms like document would be handy. :P
Like I said:
I tried a friend's FOB which is his OEM Eddie Bauer edition 2002 Expedtion with the same result.
The new ones I have were sold for this model.
The fact the car was also sold without remotes tells me there might be a thing to root cause.
There's a few things to fix:
- Remote...
Is there a simple solution control with a switch disabling of interior lights?
I want to be able to turn off the lights when doors are open, for when I camp in the truck.
For the GPS, i put the aftermarket antenna under the dash, when you remove the head unit on a Gen'1, you have access holes to the underside of the dash.
For XM radio I can't speak for it but I expect it to be a coaxial cable coming out of the head unit if it's external. IDK if there's standards...
I posted about the ATOTO head unit and amp. I doubt you'll find it on Crutchfield since they resell only name brands.
I've decided it's a better option than any major name brand. Previously I always put alpine head units to drive infinity kappa perfect speakers. This is a departure and I think...
I'm pretty happy with this head unit so here's and FIY:
I installed it on a Gen'1 with premium sound, removed the old head unit and CD changer. I actually plan to reuse the CD changer harness to hide another hidden cigarette lighter in the center console box.
What I find nice with the head...
On a 2002 5.4L XLT, what are the parts making up the reception of remote control signals to lock/unlock the car and where are they located?
I did a search and could not find the info (doesn't help IDK the Ford terms for them). I saw the "RAP" module and you can do a relay replacement when...
