01' front speakers no sound

i have an 01' expedition, I installed a newer head unit a few years ago and everything has went great, but over the past few months both front speakers just stopped working unexpectedly. This would continue for weeks and randomly after slamming a door they both would begin to work again for a day which untimately ends up with them having no sound again. It seems there has to be a loose connection somewhere that would make both front speakers not work but I really dont know where to begin. So thats my problem where should I begin to look? I appreciate any help you can give me toward solving this problem.

Note: i have tested the radio just to confirm that the front r/l leads from radio are infact working. So radio is not the issue.

Since none has replied, make sure all your connections are good and tight. Wiring behind the radio and the wires connected to the speakers. While your at it, when you remove the front speakers look over the speakers to make sure there not the problem. Try another good know speaker while there out. Any size just to see. Those are the quickest and easiest to check.
