Rear speakers in 03 expedition not working. I had an aftermarket stereo in it and they didn't work and I just put a newer head unit in and they still dont work. I checked the speaker connections in the door and they were connected. What's the chances both rear speakers have a broken speaker wire somewhere between stereo and the speaker?

It could be the aftermarket stereo that is doing it.

Does the aftermarket stereo have the factory option of balancing where the sounds go? I'm not sure if the 2nd gen's had this ability, but in some Expedition's, you could balance the sound to front/rear, left/right.

If it does have that option, try to see if you can reset. It could be balanced all the way to the front with no/little rear output.

If you had radio controls in the rear of the center console the problem could be there. The rear speakers run through there. You'll need to disassemble the center console to check the connectors and speaker wires.

It had the rear control but its gone. Do I need to get one and hook the harness into it to get sound out of rear speakers?

No you don't have to replace the wire harness. I believe the other option will be to run new wires directly from the head unit to the rear speakers. Unless you're running high power you might be able to simply find the wires that run to the speaker under/inside the console or pull the interior B pillar trim and the wires are there.

You can get the wiring diagrams from charm.li if needed.
