I'm replacing the right rear wheel bearing and am having extreme difficulty removing the bearing hub. It will not budge. Can anyone tell me how much torque I can put on the gear puller. I'm worried that I'm putting too much pressure on the CV's and CV shaft. ANY tips to remove this demon would be appreciated.

Is the axle stub moving freely within the splines of the hub assembly? It's been my experience that they freeze up there, not in the joint between the hub assembly and knuckle.

The CV shaft pushes freely through the center of the hub. My concern is that when I have the center bolt of the gear puller on the CV shaft, and all the slack in the CV's and CV shaft is backed up to the "pumpkin", will exerting massive amounts of pressure with the gear puller screw up a CV or some seal in or on the "pumkin"?
