I spent a considerable amount of time planning my attack to remove the rear rotors on my 03 Expy.
I read post after post about cutting/splitting - watched videos of pressing off with bolts & washers- I was prepared to cut off and replace rather than spend all day beating with a BFH. Seemed like the best option. I mean who's got all day? It is after all football season. On to the dirty details.....
I removed the wheels and sprayed rust breaker around the studs and let it soak for 2 hrs. I used Sprayon- LU 103.http://www.sprayon.com/products/rust_breaker_heavy_duty_rust_penetrant
Then, using only a 1lb hammer I carefully banged all around the face of the rotor. Sprayed again- let soak another hour. The second session I banged on the face again then took a scrap of 2x4 and put it against the back of the rotor and knocked the flyin' crap out of it - and it popped right off.
There was about one inch of severe rust around the center- pitted and everything. Pitted spots across the rest of the rotor and the hub face. I wire brushed, 60 grit flapper wheel, and anti-seized both surfaces when I re-installed the rotor.
Hopefully this will help another desperate soul out there.
Now on to the fronts.
