05 4x4 front drive line noise

Horrible clanking noise started coming from the under the Expy today. Sounds like you're dragging last nights pans, fairly rhythmic, also like the old playing card in the bike spokes. Really seems to be coming from front drive line => putting into 4wd shuts it up. Is it the transfer case? or worse? Has to be warm to make noise.....

Could be IWE solenoid or Hub actuators.. Replace the IWE solenoid first (fast and cheap fix)... Common issue with F150s/Expeditions... If replacement of IWE does not work, vacuum test the front Actuators with vacuum pump...

Spent some quality time with the Expy today, and it seem that you hit the nail on the head with the IWE solenoid. Found one at local Autozone and it seems to have done the job. My gratitude.
