Hi I am new here I am looking at picking up an 06 Limited just wanted some opinions and what to look for on these vehicles. Its extremely clean fully loaded w/ 107,000 miles price is $18,000 which seems about right from what I have been seeing. The mileage scares me a bit. I am very mechanically inclined but I don't want a project just looking for a family vehicle. I have always liked Expeditions just can't afford a new one. What should I pay attention to when looking? Also I have been considering getting a scrap yard long block freshen it up maybe bore it .030 over and decking the head for more compression and a little porting. if I did this would I need to change the programming or would I be able to run it as is? Thanks

It seems that the price is very fair... KBB lists the suggested retail price as 22,870.00 fully loaded. If it is in shape, pick it up before someone else does.
I picked up my 04 XLT for 12,000 when gas was so high, now that the price of gas has went down and people are buying trucks again, it was blue booked at 19,000. It has sinced depreciated to around 17,000 but I don't intend on selling it. For a price like that, and if you have the money, it seems like a great deal as long as nothing is wrong with it.

-Being an 06, it's bound to have the 3V 5.4L engine. My guess is that they haven't changed the spark plugs on it. Those engines have a tendency of breaking spark plugs when you try to remove them at that mileage. It might be a good idea to purchase the Lisle/Rotella tool, which should help in the removal of broken plugs, should they break.

-Check for bubbling paint in the hood/tailgate (especially around the plate area).

-Check that the rear A/C works. Cycle the temperature and posistion(floor/ceiling). The gears that drive the blend doors sometimes break, though it isn't too hard to replace.

-Check the rear wiper, and make sure it works.

-Make sure the jack is there. It's under "door" behind the 3rd row seats.

-Talking about the seats, make sure the 3 row seats work (if you have power seats).

-Check to see if you have some lights out in the power window switches. The circuit board the holds the LED bulbs sometimes goes bad, and makes some of them not turn on. They should light up anytime the key is in the ON position.

I just picked up a 2006 XLT with 46K miles for $16,700. Granted its no Limited model... but i wanted a lower mileage truck and leather/options were not as important to me. Mine was bought at a Ford dealer so i had them pull the Oasis report and its always been dealer maintained (for better or worse).

Just take a look at the areas mentioned above. Good idea to replace the plugs as soon as possible (im doing mine at around 60k just to be safe) so you dont have to worry about it later on.

I've had my truck 3 days and im in love... at 6'7" i needed a little more room than my jeep wrangler offers lol

I have an 06, I almost bought the limited but got a much lower mileage truck that was an Eddie Bauer fully loaded and saved a few thousand.
