We'll guys/girls. If your 97-02 Expedition/F150 is burning oil, I mean a lot, like a quart every 600 miles or so, and you've got no smoking, no old motor bad rings smell, then do as I did. Just out of a hunch, I swapped out my PCV valve. Even though the old one rattled when you shook it, it was the culprit. I couldn't believe it made that much of a difference. Before it was so bad, I was adding oil constantly. Now I check it, and maybe I add every 1,000 miles. And when I add, it's only 1/2 quart. Just thought I'd pass along this info. Oh, and oil I've been running is Mobil 1 high mileage 5/W30 weight. Mileage on my SUV is an easy 133k. Drove it out from California to Southern states back in June 2023. Wish I'd known about this before I left. Anyways, hope this helps. Later models, 2004 and up sorry, don't have a replacement valve. Just another blunder by Ford on second Gen s.
