Hi again everyone. I'm about to do the front brakes on my 00 4.6L this weekend for the first time and when I was looking up parts I noticed the rotor come in a 12mm or 14mm. How can I tell witch ones are on my truck?

johnjon, you have the 14mm bolts. The 97/98 vehicles have 12mm studs, but from 99 on, all the trucks got 14mm studs. There may be a few of the really early 99's that got the 12mm studs, but that would be more the exception than the norm. Since you have a 2000, you have the 14mm studs for sure.
I'll have to disagree, just to help him out further I just called Napa and Autozone, both asked for the VIN code

Thanks for the help guys. I just looked at my bin and there used no "w" anywhere in the # just a few "6". So I'm guessing that's the 14mm?

After researching more even the "6" can have 12 or 14 so call a dealership give them the vin for correct size

Huh, that is interesting. Back when they made the change, it was my understanding that all of the trucks after 1999 got the 14mm studs. They did that because of a safety concern (the 97's were having wheels fall off of the trucks while driving down the road after people most likely over torqued the wheels on). This is also one of the reasons why the 03+ vehicles now have 6 studs vice 5.
Granted, converting from 12 to 14mm studs is pretty easy. 2 new hubs in the front and 2 new axles for the rear and all is done. I am not worried about it on my truck as I am religious about torquing my lugs nuts on with a calibrated torque wrench (gotta love working at a place that requires accurate torquing and they allow you to bring in your tools to be tested for free).
