Planning on dropping in a new motor and have a couple of questions.

For instance, my research does not help me clear up exactly what motor I have.

My vin is: 1FMRU1866XLA93072

I do not know if I have the 6 or 8 bolt flywheel. I do not think it is a Windsor or a Romeo due to the Vin, but my research efforts have been more or less fruitless.

I just want to be certain as to what I have so this way I don't botch my orders on what I need to get. I would appreciate any help anyone can throw my way.

Thanks

I highly recommend purchasing this book as a reference:

How to Rebuild 4.6-/5.4-Liter Ford Engines: George Reid: 9781613250433: Amazon.com: Books

It spells out the differences between the windsor and romeo engines and how to identify them. It also speaks to the differences between the 6 and 8 bolt crankshafts and which engines they are used in.

Unfortunately I cannot give you a definitive answer without having you checking various items.

One option is to get the matching flexplate for whatever engine your purchase.
